Florida Supercon 2009

Now in its fourth year, FSC once again moves into a larger venue as the three day festival continues to grow. This year's event will take place June 5-7, 2009 at the Doubletree Miami Mart Airport Hotel and Convention Center in Miami, Florida. The three day festival will take place in the convention center's west hall and the convention centers entire second floor, making this the largest genre event to ever hit South Florida.

The first films that will screen in this year's festival have been revealed, presenting a diverse selection of titles that will screen in Australia for the first time.

Amongst those in the official competition are animated features CORALINE, BRENDAN AND THE SECRET OF KELLS and SUNSHINE BARRY AND THE DISCO WORMS.

Dimension 3 2009, The Forum for the 3D Markets

The Hamburg International Short Film Festival has its roots in the independent filmmaking scene. The Festival first took place in 1985 under the title NoBudget, a name which clearly defined the Festival’s mission. In 1994 it received its current name. Since it was founded, it has always been the Festival’s aim to rise to the challenge presented by new developments and changing parameters in technology, society, and aesthetics.

The Mo&Friese Children’s ShortFilmFestival is one of the few film festivals for children, that presents exclusively short films. It has developed out of a special programme of the International ShortFilmFestival Hamburg. In 1999 it became an independent festival and has grown ever since. Besides children it attracts also a professional international audience.

Academy to Celebrate "Hollywood's Greatest Year" All Summer Long

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will kick off summer screening series, "Hollywood's Greatest Year: The Best Picture Nominees of 1939," on Monday, May 18, with a big-screen presentation of GONE WITH THE WIND. The 10-film 70th anniversary celebration, which will run through August 3, showcases all of the Best Picture nominees from a landmark year that saw the release of an exceptional number of outstanding films. All screenings will be held on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Design Festa Vol. 29

Design Festa is a biannual international art event, started in 1994. 2009 Bristol International Comic Expo & Small Press Expo

Focusing this year mostly on the best of British comics around, the Bristol International Comic Expo returns at the Ramada Plaza Hotel on May 9-10, 2009, with a special one day extra event -- Small Press Expo 2009 at the nearby Mercure Holland House Hotel.

Panels will run throughout both days, expo exclusives available at various times (signed ashcan of the new DC Vertigo comic from Mike Carey and Peter Gross available only at the Vertigo Panel, for example), and a host of signings, sketchings and comics to check out.

FICAM 2009

FICAM( Festival International de Film d'Animation de Meknes Morocco) is organized by the French Institute of Meknes and Conserve Meknes-Aicha.

Since 2000, is the largest event of its kind in Africa, a major film events attracting attendees from around the country. FICAM is an opportunity to showcase the latest animation films, with a special platform for Moroccan projects. The event also features an international competition, exhibitions, animation workshop and debates with directors.

AniFest 2009

The call for entries has begun for the eighth edition of the International Festival of Animated Films. AniFest 2009 will be held in two different locations, Trebon from May 1-4, 2009 and Teplice from May 7-10, 2009.

A written application and a copy of the film on DVD or VHS needs to be delivered to the organizer's registered office no later than December 16, 2008.

The requirements for the Internet Animation competition are specified below. The deadline for entering films into the Internet competition is January 19, 2009.

Algonquin College Animation Program Grad Show

Algonquin College Animation Program in Ottawa, Canada is hosting its annual Grad Show on Monday April 27 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Observatory Pub on campus at 1385 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario. Graduates of the three year traditional drawing and 3D digital streams will be showing their films and demo reels. Students from both streams are also trained using flash and Toonboom's Harmony software.

Studio copies of the "Fine Tooning" graduate art book are available to HR personnel upon request.
