Free admission; no RSVP necessary. The screening will cover films/works created within the past year from students in the MFA Animation program. Stay afterwards at the reception to meet the students and view some of the production art as well!

It's A Nightmare! Tim Burton's Animated Films at L.A.'s El Capitan Theater

Ho-ho-horrors! Make no bones about it, Jack Skellington is back-along with some of his monstrously good friends-as The El Capitan Theater a Halloween season triple threat: Tim Burton's stop-motion animation classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas, featuring music by Danny Elfman, along with the rarely seen Tim Burton shorts, Frankenweenie and Vincent.

Montage - dhima's Student Digital Animation Festival

Come and enjoy our screening of student work from the past year. The software used in these animated shorts are: Alias/Wavefront Maya, Discreet combustion 2, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and Avid. We will have a social hour with an open bar and grub to allow you to get to know the staff and students of dhima. Animated Documentaries: An Evening with Sheila M. Sofian

AIVF is proud to present an important artist in contemporary media. Sheila M. Sofian is an internationally recognized filmmaker using a unique technique of combining documentary narrative with animated visuals. Her award-winning work has been shown throughout the world in festivals and on television. She is a recent recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and will explore her innovative animation/documentary style. This screening and lecture will discuss her recent works exploring domestic violence, the war in Serbia, as well as other pieces. Ms.

The FAFshow provides a showcase for Animators and Video Makers who wish to entertain and generally prod the audience into some sort reaction (whether it be positive or otherwise). You can check out the FAFsite www.fafcom.com to sample the type of work FAF generates.

The FAFshow screens in a number of major cities, and will have a hefty bit of guerilla marketing in NY and Boston

Bugs Bunny has been spanked. He is no longer allowed to do to Elmer Fudd what Fudd deserves to have done. He is not allowed to drink, smoke, or bonk a villain on the head. It seems that mamas and papas everywhere (mostly mamas) have finally found out what a rascal the "wascally wabbit weally is"

It is the old, old story. As no long as one one knows who we are we can do anything we want but once everyone knows us we can not do anything except what every body approves of (which is damn little of anything).

Empire State Film Festival

This is the seventh year Empire State Film Festival will bring the latest and greatest works from around the world to enthusiastic audiences in New York State. We show at The Egg at Empire State Plaza (www.theegg.org), an amazing 900-seat theater in New York's capital city of Albany, followed by an extensive tour throughout the state. Students and emerging filmmakers are highly encouraged to enter.

Art Seminars - Seminars, as always, will include the ubiquitous and fun cel painting classes! Drawing, modelling, and so forth are planning in various degrees, and Tom Grossman, modeller extraordinaire, will host a 'Make and Take' modelling session where kids under 16 can come and get a model to work on for free! Artist Newton Ewell will also teach special sessions on drawing Characters for Manga and Mecha for Manga. Too cool....

Directed by Hayao Miyazaki, SPIRITED AWAY follows the fanciful adventures of a little girl named Chihiro who discovers a secret world when she and her family get lost. When her parents undergo a mysterious transformation, Chihiro must fend for herself as she encounters strange spirits who seek to prevent her from returning to the human world.

WinFemme Film, Video & Screenplay Festival

A four year old festival in Hollywood, WinFemme is an annual and monthly screening and staged reading series for films and scripts that tell women's stories. (Men creatores are WELCOME!). Films and scripts have advanced our artist's careers, have sold and have garnered much press. $50 is the application fee. The deadlines are monthly. All entrants are eligible for the annual WinFemme Film Festival held in September.
