CHS Otaku Fest 2010

CHS Otaku Fest is a one day anime convention held at Centennial High School (4300 Centennial Lane) in Ellicott City, Maryland. Its designed to be a gathering ,celebration and promotion (for fans, by fans) of all thing related to Japanese animation, manga, and East Asian culture. The event will go from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on April 24, 2010. Activities will include a dealer's room, discussion panels, anime screenings, artist's alley, video game tournament, an AMV contest, a masquerade and much more. Nokia Mobifest Toronto, Canada's premier made-for-mobile film festival, is now accepting submissions for its fourth annual event. Filmmakers -- from amateur to professional -- are invited to submit original films of 90 seconds or less for programming consideration. Entry is free and open to both local and International content creators, aged 18 or older. All genres are welcome and entrants may create and edit video using any equipment of their choice. Submissions will be accepted until 11:59pm EST on Monday, September 28th, 2009.

Films by all animators pertaining to Asian issues and themes will also be considered. Only DVD formats are accepted for consideration. 5D|09 The Immersive Design Conference

5D|09 The Immersive Design Conference will take place October 1-3, 2009 on the campus of California State University, Long Beach, co-produced by the Art Directors Guild and the University Art Museum.

Last year’s event, which united 1,000 diversified entertainment industry professionals and students, explored the latest ideas in the practice of immersive design from such speakers as Henry Jenkins (MIT), Gore Verbinski (director), Paola Antonelli (MOMA), Mike Benson (ABC Ent.) and Sebastian Sylwan (Autodesk), among others.
