The Jamaica Digital Arts Festival was formed to create a new opportunity to unleash and showcase some of the nation's productive energy and to develop a critical mass across all social divides to push this creativity for societal benefit. This festival is intended to kick-start national interest in a cultural industry based on the creation of digital arts products.
The third annual KLIK! Amsterdam Animation Festival has been scheduled for September 17-20, 2009. More details are forthcoming. 2008 was a success, with visitors freshly introduced to independent animation with a selection of great short films from Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy and Germany.
The second annual 3D Entertainment Summit will be September 16-17, 2009 at the Universal City Hilton in Universal City, California.
The 2009 3D Entertainment Summit will accommodate more attendees as it moves to a larger space designated for keynotes and panel discussions, film presentations and larger exhibitor area. In addition, the two-day summit will include a state-of-the-art 3-D digital cinema system for special 3-D studio sneak previews and full feature presentations.

Influential animator and visual effects artist Adam Beckett will be celebrated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with a special program entitled "Infinite Animation: The Work of Adam Beckett," on Monday, August 17, at 8 p.m. at the Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood. The evening will include a screening of "Life in the Atom," a short film that Beckett left unfinished when he died at the age of 29.
World Music quartet, the Berkeley-based Gojogo, will perform new original instrumental compositions set to films from the compilation “Masters of Russian Animation,” August 15 and 16, 2009, at the Community Music Center in San Francisco. In 2006, Gojogo, who Stewart Mason of All Music Guide calls, “an uncategorizable delight,” began composing musical scores to accompany these short animated films created in an oppressed Soviet Russia between 1969 and 1984. Gojogo first premiered their compositions-set-to-animation to critical acclaim in 2007 in San Francisco.
The Association of Animation Artistes (A3K) has recently been registered in Kenya, East Africa. It was formed to cater for the artists involved in animation work including motion graphics and visual effects. As part of the publicity to announce the association's arrival, a seminar will be held at the British Council, at Upper Hill in Nairobi on the Saturday, 15th August 2009.
Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival (SICAF) is calling for entries. The fesvial is one of the acknowledged international animation festivals in Asia, accredited by ASIFA International. The second edition of the International Fest Anca Animation Festival, established by the ANCA civic association, will be held on July 31-August 2, 2009 at the Stanica Zilina-Zariecie cultural centre in Zilina, Slovakia.
