Visual Music Marathon 2009

The MFA Computer Art Department at School of Visual Arts, the New York Digital Salon and the Department of Music and Multimedia Studies at Northeastern University present the New York premiere of the Visual Music Marathon, a 12-hour festival showcasing 120 works by contemporary digital artists and composers from around the world. Warner Bros. Animation Celebration Event

Warner Bros. Animation is hosting a celebration of nearly 80 years of classic animation with the public unveiling of the new Warner Bros. Animation billboard (the first such update in 15 years), featuring beloved characters from Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera and DC Comics.

Real World Texture Painting Tips for Game Developers

MAXON Computer's BodyPaint 3D will be the focus of a comprehensive Visual Arts Track at the 2009 Game Developers Conference (GDC), aimed at artists eager to learn how to easily create custom 3D textures for current and next-gen games. Kids Licensing Forum 2009

March Cartoonist-in-Residence Weekend

The Brinkley Girls Exhibition

The Cartoon Art Museum presents "The Brinkley Girls," a celebration of one of the most popular cartoonists of the early 20th century, Nell Brinkley. This retrospective, guest-curated by comics herstorian Trina Robbins, showcases 30 lavishly illustrated newspaper tearsheets, magazine illustrations, original artworks and other highlights from Robbins' personal collection.

The 33rd Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) will be held March 19-29, 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio.

The festival features two family film programs as well as several shorts programs that feature animation. Last year, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences designated the CIFF as one of its qualifiers to the Academy Awards.

Small Press Spotlight on Rina Ayuyang

Beginning on March 14, 2009, the Cartoon Art Museum's ongoing Small Press Spotlight will feature the art of Rina Ayuyang. Ayuyang first became interested in cartooning while growing up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she spent mornings watching MERRIE MELODIES cartoons, afternoons reading the newspaper funnies and MAD magazine, and evenings scrutinizing illustrations in various children's books right before she'd fall asleep.
