MetroCAF 2006

NYC ACM SIGGRAPH hosts MetroCAF 2006, the fourth Annual NYC Metropolitan Area College Computer Animation Festival. It gives local students an opportunity to gain international exposure for their computer-generated imagery and make contacts in the computer-graphics community. Students producing computer animation, visualization or visual effects in the course of their studies that attends a school within a 75-mile radius of Times Square in Manhattan is eligible.

Annual Walt Disney's Hometown ToonFest

Each year, Marceline, Missouri, Walt Disney's boyhood hometown, hosts internationally acclaimed cartoonists during Walt Disney's Hometown Toonfest.

Guest artists attending this year: Pete Doctor (Monsters, Inc.), Chris Browne (Hagar the Horrible), Lynn Johnston (For Better or For Worse), Mike Peters (Mother Goose and Grimm), Dan Piraro (Bizarro), Tom Wilson, Jr. (Ziggy).

These artists and their fans will gather in the small rail-stop town where Walt lived from 1906 until 1911.

The New York Asian Film Festival focuses on the best contemporary Asian movies. This year's festival will take place at the Anthology Film Archives and the ImaginAsian theater.

Already lined up is CROMARTIE HIGH SCHOOL (Japan, 2005) based on the best-selling manga. This high school movie follows the saga of filthy, lousy Cromartie High, a school so sucky that they even enroll gorillas, robots and Freddie Mercury. Only an invasion of space monkeys can bring this warring student body together.

The full line-up will be announced during the last week of April.
