The National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) is launching the LATV Festival to run concurrently with the highly successful NATPE TV Producers' Boot Camp, now in its fifth year.
The events will run from July 25 through 27 at various locations in Los Angeles including the House of Blues in West Hollywood and The Highlands Hollywood at the Hollywood and Highland complex. Supporting sponsors include the Producers Guild of America, the House of Blues, TV Guide, NETTV and paidContent.org.
The Brainwash Movie Festival is showing short and feature movies for the first time. Brainwash will show a variety of genres. The original Drive-In, Bike-In, Walk-In movie festival, Brainwash will be showing some of the best of more than 500 movies in the Brainwash catalog from shows over the past 12 years. Many of the Brainwash selections chosen for their daring and uncompromising style will never be seen on television or other more restrictive venues. Parsons The New School for Design will join the nonprofit organization Games for Change to present its fourth annual festival. An early Sundance for socially-responsible game designers, the festival will bring together leading non-profit organizations, game scholars and industry experts to explore the expanding role of digital games as agents of social change and showcase some of the hottest new games in development during a special game expo.
The 2007 VES Festival of Visual Effects will take place the weekend of June 8-10 at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills.
The VES defines most influential as "those films that have had a significant, lasting impact on the practice and appreciation of visual effects as an integral, artistic element of cinematic expression and the storytelling process."
The VES Festival is open to the public; information on programs and tickets will be released in upcoming months.
REDCAT International Children's Film Festival features more than 45 films from 15 countries. The program includes films for ages 2 and up from all over the world, while still maintaining the daring and expansive aesthetic of REDCAT. This year the event features Pixar Shorts, including some of Pixar's earliest iconic shorts as well as Pixar's Academy Award-winning shorts. The San Francisco Independent Film Festival hosts its 4th Another Hole in the Head, which is comprised on two weeks of fantasy, sci-fi and horror films. On May 9, 2007, Hollywood's elite movers and shakers will converge at the historic Castro Theatre for the Academy of Art University's 1st Annual Epidemic Film Festival. Northeastern University is hosting the 2007 Visual Music Marathon, to be held as part of the Boston Cyberarts Festival. The marathon will include screenings of new and historic works that reflect the theme of the event and a live video component.
