Anime Expo 2009

Located in Los Angeles, California, Anime Expo, the nation's largest anime/manga convention, serves to foster trade, commerce and the interests of the general public and animation/ comics industry. This event serves as a key meeting place for the general public to express their interest and explore various aspects of anime/manga, as well as for members of the industry to conduct business. In Northern Virginia, some things in life are still free thanks to Cox Communications. For five nights, from June 24 through June 28, at Van Dyck Park in Fairfax, the company hosts its annual Cox Movies Under the Moon, a free outdoor film festival offering family-friendly entertainment under the stars. This is the seventh year that Cox has partnered with the City of Fairfax and 97.1 WASH FM to present this event. In keeping with Cox's commitment to the community, attendees are invited to contribute donations to benefit Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children.

Edinburgh International Film Festival is delighted to welcome American animator Don Hertzfeldt. He will introduce a retrospective of his work at the Cameo Cinema on the 21st of June at 6pm, featuring the UK premier of his latest film I AM SO PROUD OF YOU, the eagerly anticipated continuation of EVERYTHING WILL BE OK.

Following the screening, Hertzfeldt will speak about his films. In all they have won over a hundred awards, including Sundance Film Festival's Grand Jury Award.

Academy Pays Tribute to Godfather of Special Makeup Effects Dick Smith
