2nd Annual Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts (CAEAA)

The 2nd Annual Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts (CAEAA) along with its event partners Ernst & Young, Electronic Arts (EA), Autodesk and the British Columbia Provincial Government will be inviting videogame and animation companies as well as the students and educators from around the world to participate in this year's awards event, the 2007 Elans.

While last year'sCAEAA hosted by William Shatner drew worldwide attention, only Canadian content qualified for nomination. The 2008 Elans will include International Award Categories determined by worldwide industry input.

Honoring outstanding achievements and excellence in the field of animation, awards will be presented in twenty-three categories, including best animated feature, home entertainment, short subject, television production, television commercial and videogame, as well as individual excellence in areas ranging from production design, character animation, character design, and effects animation to storyboarding, writing, directing, music, and voice acting.

Best of Stash 2007 Screening

The Museum of the Moving Image and Stash DVD Magazine present the premiere U.S. screening of Best of Stash 2007.

The presentation features 60 minutes of the most inspired and spectacular commercials, music videos, virals, broadcast designs, game cinematics and short films of 2007, plus insightful presentations from Shilo and PSYOP and a post-screening reception.

The event is free with museum admission -- $10 adults; $7.50 college students and senior citizens with ID; $5 children 5-18; and free for museum members.

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) is hosting the D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit. The D.I.C.E. Summit 2008 will open with a high-profile keynote speaker, followed by the wildly popular Opening Night Party, which will host the movers and shakers of the interactive entertainment industry.

Mod DB, the premier website dedicated to game modification, is calling on gamers for submissions for the annual Mod of the Year Awards (MOTY 2007). The contest will run through Jan. 15, 2008.

The MOTY Awards showcase the best game modifications (aka "mods") in the world and recognize the mod teams behind them. A video game "mod" is a variation of a game or in-game elements. It can add new content to the underlying game (partial conversions) or offer an entirely new game (total conversions).
