Sita Sings At Red Vic in San Fran

Long-delayed SITA SINGS THE BLUES will see a theatrical run at the Red Vic in San Francisco from May 8-12, 2009.

SITA SINGS THE BLUES will be distributed by Shadow Distribution west of the Mississippi and by GKIDS east of that river. Shadow made a huge hit out of PARROTS OF TELEGRAPH HILL. Creator Nina Paley said, "I am thrilled that SITA is going to be at the Red Vic, one of my favorite SF theaters. I have many fond memories of ASIFA-SF and Ideas In Animation events at the Red Vic, as well as art films. I feel so triumphant!"

Night At The Museum Living Window at NYC's AMC Lincoln Square Theater

Begins: May 8, 2009

In NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN, due in theaters everywhere May 22, some of history's most famous figures miraculously come to life at the world's largest museum. But New Yorkers and visitors to the Big Apple can experience, interact with -- and live -- history weeks before the film's unveiling, via a "Living Window" at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater at Broadway and 68th Street.

FICAM 2009

FICAM( Festival International de Film d'Animation de Meknes Morocco) is organized by the French Institute of Meknes and Conserve Meknes-Aicha.

Since 2000, is the largest event of its kind in Africa, a major film events attracting attendees from around the country. FICAM is an opportunity to showcase the latest animation films, with a special platform for Moroccan projects. The event also features an international competition, exhibitions, animation workshop and debates with directors.

Coraline the Musical (Stage Adaptation)

Poor bored Coraline. She's left to rattle 'round her perpetually distracted, workaholic parents' house all by her lonesome. But late one night, her dreams of a better reality come true as she opens a big, carved, wooden door at the far end of the drawing room and passes into a perfect replica of her own world. When she's greeted there by a vastly loving Other Mother and a kindly Other Father, she's thrilled! But as the rats start to creep from the floorboards, and the way home becomes increasingly unclear, Coraline begins to suspect that, perhaps, all is not as perfect as it seems…

The 16th Stuttgart International Festival Of Animated Film is open for submissions. The International Competition, Young Animation, Tricks For Kids animated series and AniMovie are due December 1, 2008. Categories for Under Commission films and for the German Animation Acreenplay award are due January 15, 2009.

The Shark is Still Working Screening

Begins: May 2, 2009

JAWS documentary THE SHARK IS STILL WORKING will debut as part of the Los Angeles United Film Festival on May 2.

The documentary features appearances by Steven Spielberg, Richard Dreyfuss, Kevin Smith, Bryan Singer and M. Night Shyamalan and is narrated by Roy Scheider.

Screenings are at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, May 2 and midnight on Sunday, May 3 at the Los Feliz 3 Cinemas (1822 Vermont Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90027).

AniFest 2009

Begins: May 1, 2009

The call for entries has begun for the eighth edition of the International Festival of Animated Films. AniFest 2009 will be held in two different locations, Trebon from May 1-4, 2009 and Teplice from May 7-10, 2009.

A written application and a copy of the film on DVD or VHS needs to be delivered to the organizer's registered office no later than December 16, 2008.

The requirements for the Internet Animation competition are specified below. The deadline for entering films into the Internet competition is January 19, 2009.

Death Note: L, Change the World Screenings

VIZ Pictures is teaming with NCM FATHOM to present DEATH NOTE: L, CHANGE THE WORLD, a live-action two-night, multi-city event on April 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. local time. By popular demand, a subtitled version will be presented on April 29 and an English-dubbed version on April 30 with L's voice played by Alessandro Juliani from the anime series.

IGN.com and Vue present the U.K. charity premiere of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK: THE ADAPTATION at Vue West End, Leicester Square on April 28, 2009.

Hailed as 'the greatest fan film yet', RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK: THE ADAPTATION is a 100-minute recreation of the classic film. Started in 1982 by Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala at the age of 12, it took all their pocket money, unwavering dedication, astonishing ingenuity, plus a basement fire and the loss of a pair of eyebrows before the film was finally 'in the can' seven years later.

Academy Celebrates Milt Kahl -- Animation's Michelangelo

Begins: April 27, 2009

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present "Milt Kahl: The Animation Michelangelo, A Centennial Celebration," on Monday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Animator Andreas Deja will host the evening, which will include a panel discussion, moderated by animation critic Charles Solomon. Scheduled panelists include Kathryn Beaumont, Brad Bird, Ron Clements, John Musker and Floyd Norman. The event serves as the 2009 installment of the Academy's Marc Davis Celebration of Animation.

Los Angeles Comic Book & Sci-Fi Convention April 2009

The Los Angeles Comic Book And Science Fiction Convention takes place at the Shrine Auditorium Expo Center, located at 700 West 32nd Street, right across from the USC campu, near Figueroa and Jefferson. Admission is $8; children 5 and younger are free. A large dealers room full of comic books, anime merchandise, toys, and other collectibles are also featured.

Comics 4 Comix Benefit 2009

Comics and comix collide as the funnies meet the funny in the fifth annual fundraiser and silent art auction for San Francisco's Cartoon Art Museum. Join the Bay Area's funniest folk for a night of food, drink, and entertainment, and bid on original art by some of today's brightest stars in comics. This year Comics 4 Comix takes place on Thursday, April 23 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. Kansas City FilmFest

The Kansas City Filmmakers Jubilee and FilmFestKC have agreed to combine their festivals into a single film extravaganza called Kansas City FilmFest. Red Stick International Animation Festival 2009

Red Stick International Animation Festival, the largest event of its kind in the United States, is now accepting entries for its fifth annual 2009 "Best of the Fest" competition.

This wonderful collection from the animation pioneer collects his most popular creations in one fantastic program. Headlining is the 70th Anniversary of GULLIVER'S TRAVELS (1939, Original 3-Strip Technicolor Print), preceded by the shorts BETTY BOOP IN BLUNDERLAND (1933), SUPERMAN'S MECHANICAL MONSTERS (1941), and POPEYE MEETS ALI BABA & HIS FORTY THIEVES (1937) (Total program runs 109 minutes, all 35mm).

Hudson Valley College Tour Featuring Bill Plympton
