The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present "A Tribute to Dick Smith: The Godfather of Special Makeup Effects," on Wednesday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Six-time Oscar-winning makeup artist Rick Baker will host the evening, which will be attended by Smith himself and will feature a panel discussion including writer-director Guillermo del Toro, actor Hal Holbrook and makeup artists Greg Cannom, Kazuhiro Tsuji and Andrew Clement, among others.

The Cartoon Art Museum hosts artist Trina Robbins and publisher Brian Andersen on Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in promotion of CBG Comics' newest release, CALIFORNIA GIRLS. This event is presented by the Cartoon Art Museum Bookstore, and is part of its ongoing series of presentations and book signings.

For its third edition, Dimension 3 will be settle in the department of the Seine-saint-Denis, a region that strongly supports 3D research and production. This move will help the Forum to implement an animation plan in favor of the markets convergence

From June 2-4, 2009, Dimension 3 invites all the actors and professionals of the cinema, TV, video games, entertainment, communication or training industries to one of the most important event of the 3D industry in the world.

The Cartoon Art Museum hosts freelance artist and cartoonist George Webber on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. as part of its ongoing Cartoonist-in-Residence program. Museum visitors will be offered the chance to talk to him about his comics and watch Webber at work.

Max the Mutt Animation School in Toronto, cordially invites you to an exhibition of the work of our graduating students. This exhibition will feature graduating student art work and will include student films and a 3D group film directed by Stephen Barnes.

We have also included art work from our 2nd year students in our Classical and Computer Animation program, 2nd year students art work from our Concept Art for Animation and Video Games and 2nd year students art work from our Illustration, Sequential Arts and Graphic Novels program.

The Cartoon Art Museum presents The Brinkley Girls, a celebration of one of the most popular cartoonists of the early 20th century, Nell Brinkley. This retrospective, guest-curated by comics herstorian Trina Robbins, showcases over 30 lavishly illustrated newspaper tearsheets, magazine illustrations, original artworks and other highlights from Robbins's personal collection.

"Star Trek: The Exhibition" made its East Coast debut Saturday, May 16 in the Mandell Center at The Franklin and run through September 20. The 12,500 square foot interactive exhibition contains the world's most comprehensive collection of authentic STAR TREK ships, costumes and props from over 40 years of STAR TREK.

GDC Canada plans to serve this fast-growing region by providing a forum for Canadian developers to share best practices for fostering ingenuity and quality within their globally distributed games. Unique to GDC Canada's content lineup is an emphasis on the production cycle of game development, with tracks focused on: Concept/Preproduction, Production, Finalling and Post Launch/Analysis. By organizing the conference tracks according to the stages of development rather than specific fields, participants can better understand production cycle efficiencies and their teammates' point of view.

This exhibit showcases the art of Steambot Studios, featuring the work created for their forthcoming book EXODYSSEY.

FICAM( Festival International de Film d'Animation de Meknes Morocco) is organized by the French Institute of Meknes and Conserve Meknes-Aicha.

Since 2000, is the largest event of its kind in Africa, a major film events attracting attendees from around the country. FICAM is an opportunity to showcase the latest animation films, with a special platform for Moroccan projects. The event also features an international competition, exhibitions, animation workshop and debates with directors.
