The Academy of Art College presents its Animation Spring Show 2002.Festivities begin on May 23, 2002 with an Awards Presentation, Screening, and Gallery Exhibit. The Pre Show runs from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm with the Awards Ceremony starting at 6:30 pm. The Show will consist of works completed by Academy of Art College students in the fields of 3D Animation, 2D Animation, and Visual Effects. The Animation Spring Show is open to the public and runs from May 23rd to June 8th.

The Capilano College Animation Grad Show is an annual exhibit of student work from the two year, Commercial Animation program (classical)and the eight month, Digital Animation program (3D). Both professional level programs focus on character animation and design. Students and faculty will be in attendance and the winners of Capilano College's four studio-sponsored scholarships (Atomic, Nelvana, Studio B and Bardel) will be announced.

ConFurence 2002: "Furry Noir"

ConFurence is The premiere Anthropomorphic Fandom Convention and Exhibition. ConFurence 2002 marks our 14th convnetion, with this year's theme being "Furry Noir", paying homage to the Film-noir genre with animal characatures. Our convention will be April 26 through Aptil 28, 2002 at the Hilton Burbank Airport and Convention Center in Burbank, California. Exhibit Space is still available for only $45 per table (Not including convention membership or $5 per day City of Burbank business License). Memberships will be $45 per person at the door for attending all three days of the event.

dhima Student Presentation and Open House

The social hour will allow you to get to know the staff and students of dhima.

West Coast Student Film Festival

The West Coast Student Film Festival invites all college, university and graduate student filmmakers around the globe to submit original work into the competition. There is no entry fee. Categories for entry are: Animation, Fiction and Non Fiction. This year's theme is "Overcoming Obstacles." Entries may be shot on any format but must be submitted in 1/2 inch VHS format. The festival will be featuring several winning films from each category, as well as top films in areas of cinematography, editing (sound/visuals), directing, acting, screenplay and soundtrack.

There is no charge for submitting an animation. Accepted animations will relieve royalties. The percentage of royalties will be based on the number of animations used in the final product. This percentage will be determined at a later date based on industry standards.

Animac is a non-competitive event that is a platform for the best animation from all times to be screened and in which the animation cinema researches new ways of experimentation and dialog between the different artistic disciplines. Carolina Lopez is leading the project as artistic director and Animac image is created by Carles Porta. Lleida's culture department and a good qualified coordination team support this event.

Animation 2002 will take place at the University of Teesside on January 31 and February 1 2002.

Following on from last years hugely successful events which brought together past-masters such as Ray Harryhausen and future stars like Michael Dudok De Wit, the 2002 event has a hard act to follow. However, it seems that organisers Chris Williams and Siobhan Fenton have managed to achieve the impossible. The line up of speakers and workshops is, to say the very least, impressive.

Superwacky: Animation on Television, 1949-2002

The exhibit examines the rich history of cartoons that were made for television, and how classic theatrical cartoons have enjoyed generations of popularity through syndication and cable. Included are over 125 vintage production animation cels, drawings and rare painted background art, on loan from some of largest and most important private collections of animation art in the world. Most have never been exhibited before.
