Anticipation, The 67th World Science Fiction Convention, has added Ralph Bakshi as Artist Guest of Honor. Bakshi's career spans five decades, during which he has created memorable and groundbreaking films including WIZARDS, FIRE AND ICE and the first film adaptation of THE LORD OF THE RINGS. In addition, he has worked on and directed a variety of television shows including ROCKET ROBIN HOOD, SPIDERMAN, THE MIGHTY HEROES and THE NEW ADVENTURES OF MIGHTY MOUSE.

Fest Anca 2009

The second edition of the International Fest Anca Animation Festival, established by the ANCA civic association, will be held on July 31-August 2, 2009 at the Stanica Zilina-Zariecie cultural centre in Zilina, Slovakia.

An international five-member jury -- renowned professionals in the animation field -- will grant three Anca awards to the best animations consisting of a trophy and cash prize. All awards will be announced at closing ceremony of festival on August 2, 2009. The decision of the juries are final.

Each month, animators from all around the world create a short animation upon a given topic which is then screened and voted upon by the audience. The winner receives fame and glory... and gets to choose the next month's topic.

All animation styles are welcome - from hand-drawn, flash, claymation, stop motion, pixellation - or any combination of these. However - it MUST be animated! No live action allowed!

Second China Game Developers Conference

Art of Yo Gabba Gabba!

The Pink Hobo Gallery (507 E. Hennepin Ave.) will host an art show "The Art of Yo Gabba Gabba!" featuring artwork from the Nick Jr. TV series. Among the items on display: never-before-seen original drawings and sketches from the show's creator and lead designer Parker Jacobs, props used in the show, and original production artwork from the show's guest artists including King Mini, Mark Mothersbaugh, Option-G, Panda Panther, Megan Brain, Aaron Stewart, Mitch Loidolt, Tim Sievert, Julia Vickerman, and Tanya Haden. The opening is between 5pm and 1am.
