Game Developers Conference Europe 2009

Anim!Arte 2009 - Brazilian Student Animation Festival

Anim!Arte is an international film festival of animation movies with focus in the student public. It has as objective to stimulate the culture, as soon as the professional artistic grown, of the Animation Business in Brazil. This has been instrumental in the production of animation movies, mainly among students.

During the event, competitive film festivals of movies made by students assemblage prizes for the winners. Although, there is a parallel film festival with professional moviemakers, Brazilian and international, that complete this group of selected movies.

Anticipation 67th World Science Fiction Convention

Begins: August 6, 2009

Anticipation, The 67th World Science Fiction Convention, has added Ralph Bakshi as Artist Guest of Honor. Bakshi's career spans five decades, during which he has created memorable and groundbreaking films including WIZARDS, FIRE AND ICE and the first film adaptation of THE LORD OF THE RINGS. In addition, he has worked on and directed a variety of television shows including ROCKET ROBIN HOOD, SPIDERMAN, THE MIGHTY HEROES and THE NEW ADVENTURES OF MIGHTY MOUSE.

Fest Anca 2009

Begins: July 31, 2009

The second edition of the International Fest Anca Animation Festival, established by the ANCA civic association, will be held on July 31-August 2, 2009 at the Stanica Zilina-Zariecie cultural centre in Zilina, Slovakia.

An international five-member jury -- renowned professionals in the animation field -- will grant three Anca awards to the best animations consisting of a trophy and cash prize. All awards will be announced at closing ceremony of festival on August 2, 2009. The decision of the juries are final.

Anime Festival Orlando 10

Begins: July 31, 2009

Anime Festival Orlando is excited to announce the exciting conclusion of "The Swords of Orlandia". "Swords of Orlandia" is the story behind AFO's Interactive Convention Experience. The talented writing staff has crafted an original story/game in which attendees can voluntarily participate all weekend long. Throughout the event there are "character cut scenes", side quests and plenty of leveling up that even casual fans of Live Action Role-playing will enjoy.

Pacific Symphony Presents: The Magical Music of Disney

Orange County's own world-class orchestra, the Pacific Symphony, conducted by Richard Kauffman; along with four Broadway-style vocalists, will present The Magical Music of Disney on Wednesday, July 29, at 8 p.m. as part of the OC Super Fair Summer Concert Series at Pacific Amphitheatre. Animation Club Presents 'Secret Handshake' -- Circus Edition

ANIMATION CLUB!!! presents 'Secret Handshake', a monthly animation night at Loop Bar in Melbourne. Each month, animators from all around the world create a short animation upon a given topic which is then screened and voted upon by the audience. The winner receives fame and glory... and gets to choose the next month's topic.

All animation styles are welcome - from hand-drawn, flash, claymation, stop motion, pixellation - or any combination of these. However - it MUST be animated! No live action allowed!

Adult Swim Sends Seth Green on Robot Chicken Roller Skating Tour

Adult Swim and ROBOT CHICKEN creators and executive producers Seth Green and Matt Senreich are celebrating the release of the ROBOT CHICKEN: STAR WARS EPISODE II DVD this summer by strapping on a pair of roller skates and living on a tour bus for two weeks just to bring ROBOT CHICKEN-style fun to the masses.

Second China Game Developers Conference

Begins: July 24, 2009

As an event with extensive influence in game developing field, the second China Game Developers Conference (CGDC) will be held in conjunction with world's second largest game show -- ChinaJoy, on July 24-26, 2009 in Shanghai, China. The first CGDC was closed on Aug. 29, 2007, on the conference, 60 experts and over one thousand professionals in game industry exchanged their ideas deeply; more than 50 technology suppliers promoted their technologies and products. The 2nd CGDC will also be supported by related government administration agencies.

Texeira "Artistic Double-Play" at SDCC 2009

Art of Yo Gabba Gabba!

The Pink Hobo Gallery (507 E. Hennepin Ave.) will host an art show "The Art of Yo Gabba Gabba!" featuring artwork from the Nick Jr. TV series. Among the items on display: never-before-seen original drawings and sketches from the show's creator and lead designer Parker Jacobs, props used in the show, and original production artwork from the show's guest artists including King Mini, Mark Mothersbaugh, Option-G, Panda Panther, Megan Brain, Aaron Stewart, Mitch Loidolt, Tim Sievert, Julia Vickerman, and Tanya Haden. The opening is between 5pm and 1am.

Los Angeles Film Festival 2009

Begins: June 18, 2009

The Los Angeles Film Festival, held annually for ten days in June, showcases the best of American and international cinema. Drawing on an expected attendance of 85,000, the festival provides films with the opportunity to be embraced by the public and discovered by the industry. More than 100 feature films -- narrative and documentary-are featured in the festival, alongside gala premieres, panels and seminars, short film programs, music video showcases, free outdoor screenings, live musical performances, and unique signature events.

Kecskemet Animation Film Festival 2009

Begins: June 17, 2009

KAFF includes two different competitions: one for European animated feature films and TV specials and one for Hungarian animated short films.

In addition to the film screenings musical and theatrical shows, exhibitions and professional discussions will take place in town. Kecskemet is a small town with 100,000 inhabitants, with several arts workshops and with a lively cultural life, 80 km south of Budapest.

Entry works -- Feature (min. 52 minutes) and TV-Special (min.24 minutes) -- shall be made "frame by frame", including computer graphics animation.
