Meet the Oscars: An Exhibition of 50 Golden Statuettes

Reprising one of its most popular events, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences will unveil to the public the actual Oscars that will be handed out at the 80th Academy Awards ceremony. Bruce Bickford Exhibition

The Sloan Fine Art is hosting Bruce Bickford's "The Uplands" in its Project Room for a run through March 8. A legend in animation circles, Bickford created his first claymation animation in the mid 1960s, gained notoriety through his work with Frank Zappa in the 1970s and continues to create new lovingly constructed, labor-intensive animations, sculpture and works on paper in the basement studio of his Seattle, Washington home.

Included are three Technicolor Popeye shorts from the Fleischer studio recently restored by the museum, as well as MY NEIGHBORS THE YAMADAS, a disarming chronicle of contemporary daily life by Japanese animation master Isao Takahata.
