Exhibition On Animation At The Nepean Museum

The Nepean Museum is hosting a special exhibition on animation as part of its 25th anniversary celebration. Titled "Creating Cartoons: Three Decades Of Disada Animation And Comics," the exhibition shows the many production steps involved in making a classic cartoon film. Original character designs, animation drawings, backgrounds, storyboards and other production steps are on display. A television monitor shows the finished product.

Ai-Kon 2008

Ai-Kon is Manitoba's largest anime convention. An all-ages event, the goal of Ai-Kon is the promotion of Japanese/Asian animation and culture to the public. Started by the University of Manitoba Japanese Animation Club (UMAnime) in 2001, Ai-Kon took a reorganizational hiatus in 2002, returning in 2003. Ai-Kon has since become an autonomous event, run by an independent volunteer board. "Ai" means "love" in Japanese, hence Ai-Kon's slogan "For the Love of Anime."

DISCOP 2008

Established in 1991, the annual DISCOP East market brings together sellers and buyers of finished programs, scripted and unscripted formats, and packaged TV channels.

Edinburgh International Film Festival 2008

Both Opening and Closing Night Galas are British films by British filmmakers with British casts, many of whom are expected to attend the festival. The EIFF also looks forward to welcoming back its two patrons, Sir Sean Connery and Tilda Swinton, who will both attend the festival this year.
