The 63rd Annual George Foster Peabody Awards recognize outstanding achievement and excellence in television, radio and Internet programming. More than 1,000 entries from 30 different counties are received annually including news reports, documentaries, entertainment shows, public service programs and children's programs -- although awards are given solely on merit, without regard to specific categories. Judging is done by the 15-member Peabody Board, which includes TV critics, television practitioners, and experts in culture and fine arts from around the world.

ASIFA-HOLLYWOOD TO SCREEN A PREVIEW OF DISNEY'S NEW WARTIME DVD

The International Animated Film Society-Hollywood will celebrate the release for the first time ever of Disney's historic war effort productions on DVD with a screening of rare 35mm prints of Disney cartoons produced during World War II at the Alex Theatre in Glendale on Tuesday, May 11, at 8 p.m.

Arrangements are being made for a special panel of industry professionals to appear at this special screening to discuss the work and culture at Walt Disney that went into creating these films.

The four-day event will provide movie-goers the opportunity to see quality independent films and be part of events designed to cultivate the spirit of visual creativity and harbor the talents of upcoming filmmakers. Fees for submissions are as follows: Shorts of 10 minutes or less $10; 11 minutes - 20 minutes $20. Films ranging in length from 21 minutes - 45 minutes are $30 per entry and $50 per entry for films longer than 45 minutes.

WorldFest Houston 2004

Founded in August 1961, WorldFest is the third oldest competitive International film festival in North America.
