Animation Events

The TAB Animation Contest

Toonz is running a contest for users of its TAB, Toonz Animation Board. Visit the TAB Website (http://www.the-tab.com) and download the trial version for 15 days. To join the contest, use the TAB to produce a short animation, and send it to us. Any subject and any format (AVI, MOV or SWF) are welcome. The maximum allowed size for files is 5.0 MB. A selection of the best works will be published in the TAB Web gallery. The best animation will be awarded a copy of the TAB 2.0. Subject, drawing and animation quality will be considered to select the winner.

The NFB Animation studio in Montreal is producing Talespinners 2, a follow-up to the NFB's highly successful Talespinners collection of short animated films for children. One priority of the collection is to give voice and access to under-represented visible minority writers and animation filmmakers, but with an emphasis in this second collection on stories from the many variegated and transforming edges of the Canadian multicultural mix in the 21st century. QuakeCon 2003

First held in 1996, QuakeCon is the brainchild of id Software game fans that originally wants to get together with online friends and talk about their favorite games. Now the event is the premiere multiplayer gaming conference. More than 3,000 attendees partake in the huge exhibit area featuring E3 quality displays from the likes of Activision, Apple, Sega and many others. The BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) area, powered by LinkSys, also grew larger to a 1,300 seat LAN party, the largest of its kind in North America.

AMD Athlon 64 Processor Animation and Digital Film Contest

AMD is holding the AMD Athlon 64 Processor Animation and Digital Film Contest, a global search for the best non-commercial animation and digital short films. Eligible participants can submit their work in one of two categories, "Digital Cinematography" or "Computer Character Animation," for a chance to win one of two grand prizes. Each grand prizewinner will receive a desktop system based on the upcoming AMD Athlon 64 processor and $6,400. Eligible participants are invited to submit original 30- to 45-second, animations or digital short films for consideration.
