Superwacky: Animation on Television, 1949-2002

The exhibit examines the rich history of cartoons that were made for television, and how classic theatrical cartoons have enjoyed generations of popularity through syndication and cable. Included are over 125 vintage production animation cels, drawings and rare painted background art, on loan from some of largest and most important private collections of animation art in the world. Most have never been exhibited before.

Highlights of specific cels and art will include early The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, original pilot storyboard art from The Flintstones, original cels from Tennesee Tuxedo, The Bugs Bunney Show, Gerald McBoingBoing, Super Chicken, Dudley Do-Right, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear, Frankenstein Jr., Mr. Magoo, Alvin and The Chipmunks, Pink Panther, Lone Ranger, Fat Albert, Star Trek, Archie, Superfriends, Speed Racer, Astro Boy, Kimba, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, The Smurfs, Ren and Stimpy, Rugrats, Simpsons, Grinch, Pogo, Horton Hears a Who, and cereal commercials such as Captain Crunch, Cocoa Pebbles, Quisp, Nestle's Quick, and many more.
