Radio Television Hong Kong's Animation TV series and Festival

Radio Television Hong Kong is the only public broadcaster in Hong Kong. They are planning a TV series featuring independent animators from all over the world, which will lead into an International Animation Festival in mid July 2003.

If anyone is interested in taking this opportunity to showcase their work, please send RTHK a preview copy in DVD, CD ROM or VHS format. If their work is selected for the TV series, a broadcast standard copy (Beta/DVCAM) of the work and an interview of themselves talking about it will be needed. The series will be broadcast on TVB Pearl (a major English channel in Hong Kong) at 6.50 pm every Sunday starting from mid-April till July 2003. This is a very good time slot and a wonderful platform for all animators. The festival is the culmination of the series.

As RTHK is a non-profit making public broadcaster, no screening fees shall be paid. If the work is chosen to be shown in the TV series, an agreement from the author waiving any charges and giving the right to broadcast it once on the English Channel and once on the Chinese Channel will be needed.

As the TV series will be shown at prime-time the content should not be of an extreme nature, yet the festival will be more open to experimental work. The work submitted should be accessible to the general audience. Preferably, the films should be self-explanatory without relying too much on language. If and when subtitling is needed, a dialogue list will be needed.
