R. O. Blechman and The Ink Tank: A Celebration

The MoMA's Gramercy Theater presents a rare retrospective of one of animation's visual pioneers, R. O. Blechman, and his commerical studio, The Ink Tank.

6:15: Commercials and Short Films, including Blechman classics for Alka Seltzer, Perrier, and CBS, Ink Tank spots for 7-Up, MTV, CTW, Nickelodeon and more.

8:45: L'Histoire du Soldat (The Soldier's Tale), 60:00, with live orchestral accompaniment by The Manhattan Chamber Orchestra.

Blechman's masterful retelling of the Stravinsky classic was the first film to win the Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation. Featuring the voices of Max von Sydow (as The Devil), Andre Gregory, Brother Theodore and others. Featuring the fantastic animation of Tissa David, Ed Smith, Fred Mogubgub, Tony Eastman, Maciek Albrecht, Yvette Kaplan, and others.
