WWDMAGIC first launched in February 1995 at the Las Vegas Hilton in collaboration with WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY, the premiere fashion trade magazine focusing on women's fashion and trends. The success of the women's show prompted WWDMAGIC to move one year later to tents in the parking lot across from the Las Vegas Convention Center. Later, in 1998, WWDMAGIC moved into a more permanent space at the Sands Expo & Convention Center.
