Free Comic Book Day 2009 -- Ottawa

Comics creators Ronn Sutton (FEAR AGENT, ELVIRA, VAMPIRA) and Janet Hetherington (ETERNAL ROMANCE, ELVIRA, MONSTER LOVE) are joining Hobby Centre/The Cave Comics owner Bill Chappell on May 2, 2009, for some Free Comic Book Day fun at the store's new location in Ottawa.

Free comics (one per customer) will be offered during all store hours and visitors can see costumed crime-fighters -- SPIDER-MAN, BATMAN, STAR WARS characters and more.

Those who visit the store from 11 am to 3 pm at 6-33 Royden Place, Ottawa, (near Costco off of Merivale) will also be able to see Sutton & Hetherington, purchase delicious BBQ hamburgers from Montana's Roadhouse in support of Ottawa's children's charities, and have the chance to get kids fingerprinted and child safed by the Ottawa Police Community Services.

This year's free comic books feature titles about talking cars, sci-fi stars and stalwart super-heroes -- comics designed to attract new readers into comic shops with some of the industry's most widely recognized characters. These include Archie, Cars, Simpsons, Star Wars, Green Lantern, Transformers, Savage Dragon, Avengers and more:

-- Archie Comics: ARCHIE Presents: The Mighty Archie Art Players -- BOOM! Studios: Disney/Pixar's CARS -- Bongo Comics: 2009 Free For All (THE SIMPSONS) -- Dark Horse Comics: STAR WARS: Clone Wars -- DC Comics: Blackest Night #0 (GREEN LANTERN) -- IDW Publishing: TRANSFORMERS Animated/G.I. JOE -- Image Comics: SAVAGE DRAGON #148 -- Oni Press: Resurrection #0 -- Marvel Comics: The AVENGERS -- Viz Media: Shonen Jump Presents: ULTIMO

Sutton is a noted comic book artist who is nominated again this year for Canada's Aurora Award for excellence in science fiction and fantasy. Sutton worked on the animated cartoon version of SAVAGE DRAGON, which is one of the featured free comic books this year.
