The first Fest Anca -- International Animation Festival will take place from August 1-3, 2008 in Zilina, Slovakia. Its purpose is to show contemporary, progressive animated films to commemorate the best of the genre's history. The long-term vision is to approximate well-known international festivals, filling an empty space in this field of art in Slovakia.
The international competition section remains the main part of the festival with the goal of presenting and awarding the best-animated films shot in the previous two years. Only animated films not longer than 30 minutes and completed in 2006-2008 are accepted. Only films in DVD format will be accepted. One author may submit multiple films.
The deadline for all entrants is June 10, 2008. There is no entry fee. Information: www.festanca.sk.
Accompanying events will include workshops, exhibitions and chats with filmmakers and producers. The summertime festival atmosphere will be supported by a tent city, nighttime screenings and live concerts.
