An Evening With Emily Hubley

Women In Animation NY is very excited to host a special evening with award-winning filmmaker Emily Hubley!

Wednesday, April 17th at 7:30 pm The Gene Stavis Theater at School of Visual Arts- NYC 209 E. 23rd Street, Room 502

Emily Hubley's work reflects the essence of independent animation. Her short films are small and whimsical in nature-- playful investigations of minutia that seem to invite the viewer on a daydream. Though sometimes intensely personal, Hubley's films never feel claustrophobic; rather, they allow ample breathing room for the viewer's own internal journey and personal interpretation.

Her unique animation was recently featured in the film-version of John Cameron Mitchell's HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, a coup for independent experimental animators, whose work is often relegated to the world of obscure festivals and rare museum exhibitions. Hubley will talk about her experience working on HEDWIG, and will screen several of her short films, including PIGEON WITHIN, which premiered at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival and won the Best Animation Award at the USA Film Festival as well as the "Best of the USA" award at the 2001 New York Animation Festival.

This event is FREE. Please RSVP by April 10th by calling Missy Chimovitz at 718-599-5423 or by email at: fiftyfootgirl@yahoo.com. Please include your name and those of your guests. You will be required to present photo ID to the Security Desk when you arrive.
