The Black Maria Film and Video Festival

The Thomas Edison-Black Maria Film-Video Festival/Competition announces its Fall 2002 call for entries and is now accepting submissions through November 28, 2002. The festival seeks alternative, expressive, diverse and fiercely independent film and videos up to 70 min. long by emerging as well as seasoned makers. The entry fee is $35 for works up to 30 min. long and $45 for works over 30 min. up to 70 min. long. 40 to 50 winning works will form the award collection which is exhibited in a tour escorted by the Festival Director and presented at 60 or more prominent host institutions across the nation. Recognition by the Festival helps qualify independent work for nomination for an Academy Award. Submissions are accepted in 16mm and VHS formats for previewing and finished releases may be in 35mm or 16mm film, 1/2 inch VHS, Beta, CD ROM and DVD formats
