Autodesk Authorized Publisher Digital-Tutors announced the release of THE ARTIST'S GUIDE TO MEL. Ottawa Director Robinson Teaches High Schoolers Animation

The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF), with the support of the TELUS Ottawa Community Board Mention, is hosting the Toon Apprentice Lectures, a unique series of classroom visits teaching high school students that there is much more to animation than Saturday morning. OIAF director Chris Robinson will be presenting the Toon Apprentice Lectures at area high schools throughout May, June and September.

TELETOON Doubles Animation Scholarships For 10th Anniversary

TELETOON, Canada's only all animation network, announced that for the 10th edition of the TELETOON Animation Scholarship, the total prize money has more than doubled to more than $70,000 to support the development of nine talented animation students across Canada. TELETOON is also rewarding cartoon fans with the new Voter's Choice Award to allow would-be cartoon critics to have their say and possibly win $500. Transart Institute Offers Scholarships in Int'l Fine Art Program

Friends of Transart Institute announced that scholarships have become available to students of the low-residency Master of Fine Arts program. For the academic year 2007/8, up to eight partial $2,500 scholarships will go to students of merit and financial need. Mumbai-based animation and visual effects institute Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) is planning to launch gaming animation training programs to address the needs of global companies looking for specialized Indian animators to develop gaming engines reports FINANCIAL EXPRESS.

"We are talking to some of the U.K. and the U.S-based global gaming companies who will help us create gaming curriculum for our students," said MAA spokesman Kingshuk Gupta. "But nothing has been finalized yet as we want to have the best training program"

India's Kinfra to Set Up School

Kerala, India-based Kinfra Film & Video Park (KFVP) has gained approval from the commerce ministry to launch an international animation school, which will be built on a private-public-partnership (PPP) basis, reports THE BUSINESS STANDARD. The new school will be located on Kinfra's campus in Thiruvanathapuram.

Kinfra md A S Suresh Babu said, "We had earlier submitted a project report on the possibilities of the animation school to the Commerce Ministry and this got a final approval. Now we are in the process of finalizing a managing committee for the project."
