Born Anew

Hello all, new here to the forums, sorta, but anyway. I need your help.

You see my whole life I've let my art slide. I was hopelessly riding on this dream that one day Ill change and finally start to take things seriously. Welp,January 1st of this year was that day I suppose. No more excuses and no more slacking. I'm going to get better at art!

So for all of January, I focused purely on producing. I drew everyday and didn't worry about quality. I disliked my art, I already knew that going in. A few weeks wasn't going to change the quality drastically even if God himself held my hand. And I am happy to say I met my goal and drew everyday and continue to do so.I want to begin the process of geting down things i need for animation. I don't know all the things I should learn though. And Now I am at the dilema of what to do next.

I have decided to go back to the basics but I am un sure which ones to learn in which order. I was wondering if any of you had some ideas on the matter. Which fundamentals would you learn and in which order?

Answering this is next to

Answering this is next to impossible for a few reasons: one being that you are literally just starting out so that it's like standing on the first rung of the ladder and asking which direction to go.
The other is related to that in that 30 days drawing without any direction isn't going to amount to a lot of skill development.
As far as something to do, a direction to head in........well, pick something.  Line quality, structure, design, composition........you've got the entire range of subjects at your feet--you are akin to a toddler having taken their first step........and then asking how do you build for a marathon.
No one thing is going to see you improving over any other, so pick ANYTHING and focus on that  for the time being.  And keep in mind that just slapping lines down on a page isn't going to gel anything any time soon.  You'll need to pick a development goal, some stage of accomplishment to attain, and then work towards that.
To do that, you need to decide what to look for, how to FIND what you are looking for and then work to emulate that and/or add it to your skill-set.

Does that sound complicated?  You can EASILY make it that way, but save yourself the grief.
Start by finding a drawing done in the way you'd like to draw and duplicate that. Figuring out what and how the original artist did the work will help you along on your own path. Then just build from there.

Well I'm not completely new

Well I'm not completely new to the art game. I just haven't been taking it as seriously as I should have. I wanted this to be my dream and yet people who only saw art as a hobby took it more seriously then me. And as far as drawing 30 days with no direction, i had the problem with not being able to produce anything because i was too caught up on making it perfect. I figured getting in the rhythm of drawing period without worrying about if it was perfect or not to start with was better than not producing at all.

And i agree with you on just picking something and go. I have a bad tendency to over complicate things for myself.  Thank you for answering  =D
