Feedback on school excercise

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and joined to become involved in receiving and giving critique, to become a better animator. Here's our latest exercise for class, requiring us to animate a character to the provided dialogue. Any feedback is welcome, I really want to improve as an animator !

Also, I wasn't too sure if this was the right thread to post work on, so please re direct me if there is another thread for beginners, thanks :)

Word of advice, don't ever animate dialogue from an animated movie. Chances are people watching your animation will have seen that movie and will know the shot it's from. So now you're putting your animation up against the animation from a feature animated movie, and you're in for an up hill battle. Next time pull your dialogue from live action.

Nice job! I thought you chose appropriate actions that suited the dialogue, especially the way he leaps in and swipes his arm. The only thing I might have done differently is on the line, "but only the left ones." It might have benefitted from rolling his eyes up and away, maybe arching a brow in a more ponderous facial expression. Maybe throw in a head scratch or chin rub as well. Not a deal breaker or anything though. Good job!

Nice animation,expressions are interesting!

Cheers for the feedback guys, the comments are appreciated. I will take the advice into consideration and continue to work on pushing expressions. In class, I mostly received feedback regarding the quick move forward and the swipe of the arms and how I could improve that by adding stronger arcs, drag and follow through.

@Animated Ape : Yeah that make sense, we were provided the audio file in class but I will definitely keep that in mind when working on personal animations in the future.
