I'm here and ready to learn.

Hello. My name is Paul (boring name, yes, but there are many great people with the name Paul; take Paul Revere for example). I just want to say that I really like the art that is animation. I didn't join this forum to brag about my drawing skills (I have very little; the best thing that I ever drew was an ornate vace, and I lost that within a week after I drew it) or boast about my painting achievements (which I have none since I have never really painted anything before). In fact, I have joined this forum/bulliten board to learn from whoever is willing to teach me. I have no past visual art experience, but I have both the eagerness and the patience to learn... when I'm not doing homework (High School isn't going to finish itself, now is it?).

So, just like the title says, I'm here and ready to learn.

Hi Paul.

Draw.

If you have aspirations, hopes or dreams about doing animation professionally, draw.
Drawing is a good start.
Animating can follow.
As can painting, designing, colouring, inking, directing, couch casting what-have-you......

But, in my professional opinion, drawing is the start.
Put lines down on paper........then start making them make sense. Then start making them looking like something, then start doing things with them. Make them entertaining, appealing, exciting, engaging, enthralling.
And don't stop drawing.

Good luck.

Thank you for the advice.
I've read all of the rules/regulations and skimmed over the many threads here, but I haven't seen where someone would post a "help wanted" thread for an animation project. Could someone help me out? Point me in the direction of where that kind of thread would go? Make a road map of this site to help me find that place? Or am I able to put it here in my introduction thread?

i'm a noob here, but i'd like to offer some advice up front. You're still in HS, I'd recommend taking as many art/advanced drawing classes as possible. I'm an animation student now (have some skill) but previous to going to college, I have never taken an art/drawing class, and it's amazing seeing the difference from those fresh outta highschool kids who have art class experience vs myself.... Just another thing to make me feel old(er)

Actually, I'm not really thinking about going pro with this. I just think that it would be fun to do it during my free time. I do go to the drawing/painting class instructor for help sometimes. Maybe if I ever find that vase... I could show the people here what little I can do now.
