How good is Steampunk for animation

Would steampunk be a good idea for an animated show, film, or graphic novel or would it dry out easily?

There is no way anyone can answer that question. If you have an idea, develop it with a script, art work and may be an animatic.

That is kind of like asking if the color green would be a good color to paint with. What makes a good show idea, is a good story/concept, and appealing characters that the audience can relate and sympathize with. Of course the look of the show has some part of it, but that's not as important as the other two.

My advice is to concentrate on a great story and characters. If you get that, the look will fall into place.

You could find resource at japan anime.. They combine 3D models and anime that looks amazing.. Btw any animations software is just a set of tools, creations is come from the people :) also create steampunk for 3D animations is depends on your rendering skills..
