Working overseas?

Working overseas?

I’ve been very interested in working overseas. I never had the opportunity to travel while growing up and now that I am graduating Calarts character animation (In California, USA), I would like to work in another country.

Right now I only speak English, but I would be more than happy to study up a new language. I’ve been looking at India, and South Korea, mostly, but also there seems to be many good studios in Eastern Europe, China, Australia and Brazil. I have a hard time finding out how to apply for overseas studios, and am not sure how all of the visa information works.

My question is what sort barriers are there to working overseas?
How does one obtain a work visa?
What level of language proficiency do I need?
Do other countries want to hire American animators?

Hi Rigel,

It's nice to know that you want to work abroad. We do have interns coming and working with us from different countries to our institute and studio for periods ranging from 6 months to 12 months. We've had interns from Russia, Columbia, Mexico, Finland, Poland, Turkey, Brazil, Germany, among others in the last 2 years.

Do let me know what is your expectation from this work stint. Are you looking for a long term thing or you want to spend a short time learning about a new country. Do let me know, maybe I can help you.
