The Beginners Questions - 2D

So
1.What scanners do you use? I am asking this because it took me an hour to scan 50 sheets ( just to check how i got the movement) and mine is HP Photosmart C4180 All-in -one printer-scanner copier.
2. Which free animation software would you suggest? Right now I have MonkeyJam, I also found out that my A4 sized paper has a different size compared to the size of the virtual workingspace,

Ill have more questions in the near future, I promise. Right now i use a glass table with flashlight underneath as my light box and regular copy paper.

Thank you so much! (:

I've never used it, but I foudn this website a while back and liked their illustrator and photoshop alternatives :

I've heard good things about the Brother MFC-6490 CW scanner . It has an Auto Document Feed tray and can handle 11" x 17" size paper , which will allow you to use 12 Field Animation paper (which is "10.5" x 12.5") . And it only costs about $300.00 which until recently was an unheard of low price for an 11" x 17" scanner with ADF from a reputable , name-brand manufacturer.

Here's a review:

Brother MFC-6490 CW scanner review

Keep in mind that for that price I doubt that this scanner is built to the specifications that heavy-duty industrial ADF scanners are built for ... scanning hundreds or thousands of pages day-in and day-out over a long period of time , but if you're just doing your own animation tests it should be fine . You can't even come close to the price with any other 11" x 17" ADF scanner.

Hope that helps.

I used to use monkeyjam but gave up on it after awhile. I'm using ikitmovie full version now as I find it quick and easy to work with. Also its handy to be able to export directly to mp4 format for stop motion.

Life in Stop Motion - One frame at a Time..

If you just want to do a pencil test, you can set up a downward facing digital camera to just take pictures of the frames. It's faster than scanning.

Or a lunchbox. =)

I've heard beneficial things

I've heard beneficial things about the Brother MFC-6490 CW scanner at MUNBYN. It has an Auto Document Feed plate and can deal with 11" x 17" size paper , which will permit you to utilize 12 Field Animation paper (which is "10.5" x 12.5") . What's more, it just expenses about $300.00 which up to this point was an inconceivable low cost for a 11" x 17" scanner with ADF from a legitimate , name-brand producer.
