Animating Water!

Hi everybody!

This month I'm working on a flash flood sequence for a short-film, and am about to start on the water effects. Because resources are limited, the water animation will need to be stylized. Do you folks know of any 2D animated films that have found inventive ways of animating stylized water? I'd love to see how other people have approached this challenge.

(My task is to find a way to animate the flood with "force" and "fluidity," but with a minimal number of key frames. I'm working in Illustrator and Flash.)

Thanks!

Joe Gilland's book Elemental Magic is out and available now.
Its a how-to guide on effects animation, and covers subjects like water.
I know Joe personally, he's worked for the big players; Disney etc. and he knows his stuff. He's an acknowledged modern master of the craft.

"We all grow older, we do not have to grow up"--Archie Goodwin ( 1937-1998)

I should have my copy by this weekend, been saving up for this.

I just got " Elemental Magic: The Art of Special Effects animation" by Joseph Gilland.

So I have not read the book but I do have some comments I wont to share.
First the price, it is about fifty dollars US at the retail store. So if you wont it, look to the internet and save a few bucks.

For the price, there is no DVD and I do not see an internet web site. The examples in the book are few and the font is large.

I am glad I got the book but there are some sort points that I wonted to share.

Yay! New animation literature!

Thanks guys.
