Love Struck Dan

Hey guys. I just finished another shot for my animation II class at SCAD. If you have time, please feel free to let me know what you think about it. :D

AHEM! i mean..i am a big strong man! feel my manly muscles!

although....i do have a technical question for you. What program are you using? maya? How did you get the solid color floor/background with the shadows?

Ahhh ... spring is in the air!!

Looks great! Fun use of the tails, too.

Very nice, very fluid.

Thanks! I just finished making a few small changes based on some feedback that I recieved...

I added some slight movement to Dan when the girl kisses him. I also adjusted her timing so Dan reacts after she starts pulling away from him. I tightened up the spacing on the trans y of Dan's run and I added more drag to his tail when he comes down after being kissed. I also pushed his fluttering feet some more.

Hopefully everything looks better as the result.

Looks really good Mew. Is there more to the shot or does it end with the kiss? It seems to end abruptly as it is. As if my computer froze.

Just looked at it again. Personally I feel blue's double take is happening too fast. I think it should ease-in to his look at her, hold a half a beat. He now realizes he got caught looking and quickly turns away like how you have him.

I also think she should keep drifting forward and turning towards him as he's looking away. I'm reading it like she's trying to catch his eye or see his face, so she should be slowly trying to peer around him. Then she goes into that move after he double takes.

I hope I didn't just confuse you.

Hey Eric,

Thanks a bunch for the crit! :D I need to spend most of today working on my AM short and planning for my next SCAD assignment, but I'll try to dedicate some time to fixing this shot later this evening. I'm really happy with all the feedback I've been getting for this shot though. Thanks a bunch! Oh, and yeah it does end at the last kiss. Should I add some more time at the end?

You're welcome Jocelyn. Your work has really improved by leaps and bounds. I still remember one of your first shots you posted of your character with the big ears. This is light years ahead of that.

Your shot works great as it is. My critique is just nit picky stuff. I think it will make your shot a bit better, but your shot won't fall apart if you don't get to it.

I think it's because it's in QT format that the end looks stange since it ends with the final pose. Maybe a fade to black would help end it. Great stuff.

I'm still amazed that you can do both AM AND Scad full time. Keep up the good work and don't burn yourself out.
