Flashpotoes LLC takes flight!

Work has really been taking off for me in the past few months. I've gotten a great response to my updated website: www.flashpotatos.com

For anyone out there looking for work (especially in this field), I highly recommend posting a resume on craigslist.com. I tried Monster, Career Builder, and several other internet job search sites with absolutely no response (except for a lot of junk mail, and phone calls from people who couldn't take 2 seconds to review my resume and were asking me about jobs in sales and other crap like that.) Craigslist WORKS!! Try it today! It's free and there're no strings attached!

Flashpotatoes LLC is now a legal entity. I am currently doing very well as a Freelance artist and I'm working on starting some internet businesses that will be sub-LLCs of Flashpotatoes. If all goes well, I will be looking to hire artists and animators sometime in the future. I'm All-American, so I would be hiring as many American artists as possible and trying to help our economy and this great industry.

To all the struggling artists out there. Don't give up on your dreams! The world needs artists just as much as it needs doctors. Don't let anyone stomp out your dreams.

"You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can't do it. You want something? Go get it. Period."

"Don't ever let someone tell you, you can't do something. Not even me."

These quotes are from the movie "The Pursuit of Happyness." Excellent movie! Go rent or buy it if you haven't seen it already.

I came pretty close to pursuing other work a few months ago, when things weren't going well for me. I am fortunate to have an excellent wife that encouraged me on through that difficult time and made the rent. I recently went to see this movie and it has furthered my ambitions to never give up on my dreams. I'm even writing a book that I hope will be able to help a lot of people out there.

Potatos

All americans?

All you stuff is going to be american oriented? While this is a great goal and very patriotic, but alot of the quality artist/animators are not american, but asians who are commisioned by americans to do animation work, but that doesn't mean these americans can't be taught! Heck, I might be interested in joining your future company as a lead animator once I get proper schooling.

I am guessing by "sub-LLCs" you mean Potatoes is the "parent" company?

Thanks Sharvonique,

I am a firm believer of the saying, "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you." I believe our world would become a Utopian society if we lived by that one simple rule. I've worked for the man before and I know what it is to be oppressed and unappreciated. I believe that the greatest artists are those that are freed from the bonds of a dictatorial environment. I will be looking to create an environment in my company that is driven by a collaboration of creative minds and happy hearts.

What a wonderful ideal. Best of luck to you!

Clarification

Hey Brio,

First of all, I should clarify. I'm not at all opposed to working with animators from all over the world. The thing I'm not interested in, is hiring someone outside of America just to put more money in my pocket. I want my company's main objective to be giving talented artists great jobs.

So far, most of the people who have shown interest in working with Flashpotatoes have been Americans & Canadians. I also realize that most American animators/artists have gone 3-D. Flashpotatoes is, as you may imagine, very focused on Flash animation and a 2-D approach to animation. I don't want to limit myself strictly to 2-D, but 3-D stuff will have to come later down the road. Please, look up Flashpotatoes in the future. Obviously, it's a very small deal right now, but I have some big plans. Hopefully something will work out and I'll have a big business some day.

Yes, Flashpotatoes would be the parent company of some others, if they work out.

Best of luck to you in your schooling!

Sincerely,

Potatoes

I guess you are like me, one of the few americans interested in 2D animation while the big companies are farming out low-quality 3D animation and just want to inhale as much cash as possible. Also flash is probably one of the only american-based 2D animation solutions for americans.

Congrats! I always find it encouraging to hear of others' good news. It's great that things are working out well for you and that you're willing to share your good fortune with others. :)
