In an effort to make independent animation profitable, I have launched a new website, ToonBreak.com.

ToonBreak is a video site dedicated to animation. More importantly, ToonBreak's focus is to help independent animators earn revenue. I have the site set up to allow multiple revenue streams including advertising, affiliate links, merchandising, and donations.

It is also a site which shows only legally uploaded cartoon videos. This means independent animators do not have to compete with swiped copies of "Family Guy" and clips of drunk girls kissing/fighting/stripping.

Right now the cartoon pickings on the site are a bit slim. So far I have just uploaded videos with affiliate links from the video hosting site I'm using. But please check out the site and let me know what you think. And if you are an independent animator, please consider submitting your stuff!

Thanks,
Shawn

I am not sure if you saw it but AWN posted that they are starting the very same thing. The site will launch soon.

Yes, 'tis true, AWN is soon to launch its very own shiny video portal. We are very excited for the whole community. It will rock.

The AWN video portal sounds exciting (and similar). Since both AWN and ToonBreak offer non-exclusive deals, I think animators should submit to both places.

I created ToonBreak largely out of frustration, to provide what I needed as an independent animator. I think it is great that video sites are starting to appear that respect independent filmmakers and pay us fairly to use our work.

Thanks,
Shawn
