Pitching

we are working on a film project and we submitted the pitch book to the Animation India 2007 comeptiton being held by Nasscomm and got selected as one of the 6 finalists.

I have to present the concept to a panel of industry big shots including (Turner, Disney etc) on January 10th

My Pitch!!!!

guys,

sorry for updating this late, been really busy with storyboards.

Unfortunately due to a tech prob at Nasscom (everyone got hit - i got hit the worse) i couldnt give my presentation as it was meant to be given.

Due to some incompatibility i ended up with no slides (some well prepared, attractive slides at that)

so i had to go up and wing it which hampered my chances of winning.

But i got decent notices from it.

A quote from the report

Also impressive was Jain's approach to the genre of Super Heroes where certain things were cliché as they had to be and certain elements of innovation and originality balanced the whole show. Once again one could see big scope for L&M.

thats me making my pitch

i am also attaching two teaser posters for the film

there is a little more of a write up on the blog if anyone wishes to read.

Congratulations!
So Aryaman, right? That's a sun deity if I'm not mistaken. Got material to show?

damn, did you google it or did you just know?

i do have materials but i cant post it up as of yet. in a little time :)

As you probably know, Germans have a regrettable history connected to the word "Aryan" which shares ethymological roots with Aryaman. It rang a bell, I had to google up the sun deity bit, though.

Congratulation, hope it works out for you and you really should have Photoshop that picture of you. That is just wrong. :D

If you are worried about your position on the list that has six names, you should stop...worrying. You know the dance routine.

[remember your failure in the cave, save you it can!]:D

i would. but then id be too pretty and no one would take me seriously

now id like some advice. since i am presenting against some biggies as well as doing it in front of a pretty big audience.

how should i go about it.

my presentation was going to be pretty straightforward and i have only 5 mins

About the film
Target
USP(why itll work)
Central Themes
Art work

am i missing anything ?

Wow, Skinny! Congrats!

I don't think you should save the artwork to finish your pitch. I actually think you should reveal it while you're talking about the different aspects of the project. You only have 5 minutes, so you want to make it interesting. Get them excited about the story and the characters. Make them believe that the story has to be told, and that it must be told through your vision. And know your project inside and out so that you can respond to any question that may be asked.

Good luck and keep us posted!

That's good news! Even though you didn't win, I think you can still use the momentum of the experience to help push your project forward, especially since you received good reviews.

Don't look at it that way. If your project was already selected along with those big studios, then they already see potential in it. Put together the best presentation that you're able to do, and try not to worry about anyone else. Be sure to practice your pitch, but don't seem "rehearsed" when you do it. If your presentation seems boring or doesn't keep anyone excited for the whole 5 minutes, then adjust accordingly.

When I have a presentation like that, I obviously have it memorized but I actually run through it a bazillion times so that it's rote and committed to my mind. Then when I know each word backwards and forwards I can sort of just use my knowledge of what I'm talking about and my enthusiasm to spin and color the words and keep them interesting.

It really is a lot like acting.

Or oral interpretation.

good advice guys. more more.

im not too worried about the presentation per se coz i have given a whole lot.
i just want to make sure that i get the content right.

I wanted chime in, though late, and encourage you as well! Your forum posts have been appreciated by this reader, and we must all keep inspiring and encouraging one another.
