Transformers the Movie

Has anyone seen the latest trailer of the Transformers: The Movie? I just stumbled upon this:

I am not a real die hard fan of the Transformers, but this is one movie that has me thinking of definitely seeing next year! Other that Spiderman 3, ofcourse.:)

Thanks Robert, that was very helpful. From the two trailers that I have seen, he has a lot of nonstop action in this movie.

With Spielburg backing this feature, I am wondering how Spielburg will show his hand in this movie. When you have one person who makes movies that you do not like, working with another person who makes blockbuster movies, do it raise or lower the quality of the feature film? Is Spielburg running shotgun over Bay or is Spielburg running interference?

I guess we will not know, untill we can see this movie. I am ready for another Hayao Miyazaki film. :D

It appears to be just the kind of cheesy sci-fi crap that I eat up, but who knows?
Michael Bay usually doesn't make very good movies.

It looks like the typical sci-fi action popcorn movie that Michal Bay typically puts out, and I love those! From the trailer, it looks like it's going to kick butt with explosions, and giant robots beating the mechanical snot out of each other. It just doesn't feel like "Transfromers" to me. It could've been called "Go Bots" for all the similarities to the original cartoons. Oh well, I know I'll still go see it opening day with a bunch of my other geek friends. After all, there hasn't been a Michael Bay movie that I haven't liked.

Aloha,
the Ape

...we must all face a choice, between what is right... and what is easy."

It looks interesting and the animation on the robots looks good. I may go see it for the animation if not for the story.
James

spoiler

At the end, the Iron Giant shows up and kicks everyone's ass.

Now THAT'S a movie I'd pay to see! :D

Robots! Giant Robots!
I was sad not to hear the theme song from the old cartoon. Maybe I will re-cut the trailer with that music in it.
John Turturro is in it so it can't be all bad.
At comic con in 2005 their big add campaign was a mack truck covered in a tarp surrounded by impossibly cute booth babes.

The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself. My Blog: Strange Thoughts

and the web site with pictures is...?

The trailer was ok but there is a much better clip on Michael Bay blog site.

It even has Steven Spielberg talking about the project and behind the scene clips. Now... about comic con 2005 :D

Transformers never really found their way into my heart although I've known them since childhood. I don't think a live-actio movie will change that.

I can't find my photos for comic con at the moment but this link may help

I was kidding but thanks.

As for my link to the sneek peek quicktime, Bay said something that I need some help on. He talked about shooting for the edit but that is counter to the process I have read about. It has been my impression that all scenes are shot long in length of time, to give the editor room to work their magic.

Usualy a film will have about 10 times as much footage shot than what actualy ends up on the screen. So for every foot of film on screen, ten lay on the floor.
Shooting to the edit, in this case being a Mike Bay film, he probably means he shot WAY too much footage so that he can play in the edit suite. A sure sign that there is little vision in this film.
A film that had a huge shooting ratio, The Postman. A bad film in my books.
Sometimes a good one will come out of it though. Apocolypse now had a 100 to 1 ratio.
So I suspect he didn't have a clear vision as to what he wanted for this film and is relying on the edit to clear it up. Dangerous if you don't have the right editor

Transformers never really found their way into my heart ....

What about the episode of Robot Chicken where Optimus Prime gets prostate cancer? I dare you to watch that without shedding a tear.
