I kindda like it.....

Just watched the last episode for the season two of Avatar:The Last Airbender. The funny thing is that I kindda like it....My small bro will normally pester me to download the latest episode and I'm normally ended watching with him...As much as I hate those 'Western made Anime',I like to say this cartoon is not bad.Quite interesting, original,it actually has a 'story'. Something many cartoon's don't have...Did anyone else watch it...What do you think about it?

Mako Iwamatsu

I was watching a rerun of Avatar and notice that one scene was dedicated to Mako. After some quick checking I found that Mako, who voice Uncle Iroh, died this past July 2006 (esophageal cancer). Such a great actor and I do not remember there being anything said about it, so I thought I would post it here.

I don't think I've seen the episode you mentioned, but I have seen Avatar in the past and enjoyed it. Anime is not my thing, and Americanime really gets under my skin, but I liked what I saw of Avatar. Exception to the rule, I suppose...

Yes, I watch Avatar and I enjoy it. This series has a very huge story arc with no room for any dead air. The animation it self is simple but they do their most intense work in the fight scenes. They have, so far, keep from over using clips as filler.

Here is a short list of other shows everyone should take a look at.
Naruto, The Life & Times of Juniper Lee, Ben 10

Like Avatar their animation is simple with the occasional extra effort made for the odd scene. As for their story line, they each working to a different style. Naruto has the grand daddy of all story arcs, Juniper Lee and Ben 10 are both episodic but both are driving their characters forward in different ways.

Love It

Oh yes, Avatar is one of my most favorite shows to watch on Nickelodion when I have nothing to do. I love the fact that it has this RPG feel to it and the absess of growing up to become stronger, developing yourself and your abilities--I love that. I also appreciate that it is done in this smooth and bleak style, adressing perfectly it's overall entirety as a Chineese Cartoon. Makes me want to read--don't you agree--just pick up a book and read about Confucious and his philosophical teachings.

He who seeks the truth, must first empty his heart of a false pursuit.

Diemeras Dark Angel

Yes...

Ben 10 is quite interesting,Naruto of course has to be one of those adventurous based stories, like many good Japanese cartoons.I never really watched the Juniper Lee,didn't actually liked what i see in the advertisments, seems like many average cartoons that i see.

Normally western cartoons are normally episodic based like there is one story in just each episode,Japanese made cartoons aka Anime have the whole cartoon, the whole thing is the story, like every episode links to another, which actually gives the reason to why people will like to watch it.Hey,thats actually quite good......

What makes the Anime nice and interesting is actually it has a story, just like a book but just seeing instead of reading. What makes a good Anime is just a good story with conflicts, feeling and good over evil concept.

But I don't understand why do the Western want to copy Anime.Anime is interesting not only b'cuz of their drawings but It actually has a story that people want to follow on.I mean Kappa Mikey was horrible,do they even THINK when they wanted to do this.....

Maybe I find Avatar interesting because Its the first 'Western made Anime' that I know that actually understood what makes Anime interesting.........

Oh yea....

Its more of writing instead of reading....Marksman wanted to write a fan-fic for a game forums....So, I normally give ideas, like the story, the conflicts, the questions and answers.Marks created the characters, the background and he actually wrote everything. We worked together and actually created a really good story.....If you want to read it,heres the link:

The thing is that I got many ideas after watching The Avatar......;)

Perhaps what makes Avatar interesting is the fact that its visual and storytelling style are derivative of the works of Hayao Miyazaki.
In other words, Avatar creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino are building on a style that Miyazaki spent decades mastering.

I just thought of another title, "Get Ed".
I am not sure but I think multiple countrys worked on it but it was basically a western show. It has an on going story arc that was spread over 26 epsiodes. I has to be some of the best voice acting, CG animation, and story that as come out of Western production industry last year. You can see the influence of anime but it is for sure not anime.

As for Avatar, I think that it helps that they have chosen to produce a lot of epsiodes. The current Western fair has been limited to 13 epsiodes a season, which is not much.

I have only seen his feature films but I think you have a very good point. Also I think that it should be pointed out that his work is more cinematic where a Western fair have been more stage or theatatrical centered.
