Hey Jab, sit down...

I just got a copy of Animation Magazine in the mail - thankfully, because I haven't been able to find one to buy since Borders no longer carries the title.

Anyway, I read the contest, and get this: TWO judges out of ten included Jabberwocky's project "Malfaryus" as their favorite!

Who are these two judges?

Nate Hopper, Senior VP of Development for Sony Pictures Animation. His favorites included Malfaryus (listed first), Best Enemies and The Infinity Devastator Goes To Work.

and

Betsy McGowan, Senior VP/General Manager for Kids WB! Malfaryus was her only favorite listed.

No props for Fly Guy, but I'm so excited for Christoph, I could fall over.

(I figured I'd post it here and he'd see it faster than his email. And all y'all, too. :) )

That is good news so thanks for posting. Well SpaceGhost2K, I am sure you will get your name printed in an article like this one.

Very, very cool. Congrats to the JabMan!

If I had grapes I'd send over someone to feed them to you...as it stands I have a huge thing of raisins which I can flick expertly from a distance.

Kudos! :D

Oh my!
Thanks for the scoop, Ed! WB - whow. Imagine if they ever produced a Malfaryus cartoon - those guys own the Harry Potter and LotR franchises, meaning a director could go absolutely wild spoofing them and have no worries about possible copyright infringements, haw! And Sony have got considerable animation horsepower under their hood as well.
My animation school in Cologne subscribes to Animation Magazine, maybe they'll sell me a copy. 'fraid there's no other way to get one here other than ordering directly from the US.

Thanks, all - this is interesting. Very interesting.

I've been looking around, trying to find a couple of copies to send you, and all the bookstores around her have been bought out by Borders. No B.Daltons, no Waldenbooks. I can't find anyone else who carries the magazine. I thought I wasn't even going to find a copy.

Send me your address again and I'll get this one off to you.

Remember The Animaniacs was a Warner property, and they skewered everybody. They even had a picture book that ripped off one of my favorite Christian musician's songs. I'm probably the only guy who ever made the connection, though.

**EDIT** If anybody finds these magazines in a store, buy a couple copies, ship 'em to Jab, and I'll PayPal the money to you.

Hey Jabber that's great. You deserve the acclaim.

Pat Hacker, Visit Scooter's World.

For what it's worth the character designs that I remember seeing on all those posters seemed among the strongest...In terms of simplicity with proper use of proportions, etc.

Praise is worth a lot to me, I'm just a human being after all. (Says so in my birth certificate anyway.)
I started drawing the Malfaryus characters during the month before that animation program I attended started and they looked different when I first came up with them. (Although they still are essentially the same types of characters.) I've had a lot of time to tweak them is all.
Ed - good call on the PayPal thing! Only I'll do the paying because it's time I foiled your devious plan to make me look like an über-moocher. The current print issue isn't the one with the Over The Hedge characters on the cover, is it? I can download that as PDF, only there is no piece about Pitch Party in the PDF version.

Hey, an "über-moocher" doesn't draw 120 drawings for some guy just for the hell of it.

The August 2006 Animation Magazine cover is split vertically in thirds, with pictures of then men from "A Scanner Darkly", "The Ant Bully" and "Monster House."

So what now? 12 drawings a day gets you one second of animation drawn on twos. Two months, you've got the one-minute intro credits for your cartoon. Then send it to those two people. Whatcha think?

Hello Jabber

Hello,

Great news congrats Jabber, SEHR GUT!!!!

You deserve good stuff! Keep up the good work!!

Best to You,

I Edit This Post

"Animation Magazine" is not carried by anyone so you are going to have to pay the publisher for a copy. You should do this quickly to make sure you will be getting a copy.

I just went to Animation Magazine's web site and found this.
http://www.animationmagazine.net/article.php?article_id=5586
So in August Barnes & Noble will have this magazine on its stacks.
Or just print out the article from the website. :D

That's no fun. Who wants to show off thsir good fame and fortune from a printout?

I wonder if there's a Barnes and Noble around here anymore...

Thank you, Mr L., and I will. Now is the time for plotting and plans. Good thing I got next week off. :D

Well, it's not like it totally hasn't paid off for me, is it? We're both getting the word out - you are in this up to your neck.

Congrats, Jab! That's really great! :D

Space, I received a complimentary issue for participating in the contest. I assume that you should get one, too.
