Is there supposed to be audio? There wasn't any so it's hard to comment on the acting, but the animation looks pretty nice to me.

I got audio - it's Doc Brown from "Back To The Future".

Nice work - snappy, good poses. Lip synch didn't always match, but that's a nit.

The transitions between the poses didn't playback well on my computer (I'm beginning to think it's a Flash issue) and I got the audio after turning the dialogue way up.

It's hard to say anything because it's broad and literal and usually that doesn't work for me as combinations go but if you're trying to adhere to source material it's got a very Shatner-for-Priceline take on the bit from the movie that works because the existing performance itself was so broad. I think my favorite part might be the accent around "harness" :D but some of the posing could be clearer toward standing on its own if you were to pluck it out of context.

Watching it without sound, I couldn't really tell what the guy's attitude was, if that helps at all. This should always be clear, no matter what, or you've missed that the intent of the shot.

The animation itself is very polished, so well done on that. You just need be very clear with your acting choices.

This is why I'm a fan of using radio performances for tests rather than movie or TV audio (as SL knows all too well...). Movies and TV come with visuals that may be difficult to put aside mentally as one works on the shot, and even harder to set aside for the viewer once you're done (depending on the clip you choose). With radio there is no such liability and you're free to interpret as you like.

It can be classic radio shows or contemporary talk radio, whichever floats your boat. Classic radio performers knew how to deliver an image to the listener strictly through sound, and there's plenty of passion evident in modern talk radio... :D

How can it be a Flash issue when it was rendered to an avi file?

The acting was fine, maybe a touch melodramatic, but that's what animation is usually all about.

Ok, unless you are interested I wont go on about this , generally nice but too many body poses. Over animated. There are good poses there but you need to limit and pick the strongest pose and work off it. The more you move the head the less facial expression you can see.

Yeah, he might be doing too much, but the dialogue is pretty animated, so it's kind of a tough call. Also, when he's hunched over talking to the dog, his right hand is moving, but it's being blocked by the books. That kind of just bugs me, cause I want to see what it's doing. Thats more of a staging issue.

All in all, great work. Well animated and I like the snappiness of it.

Just out of curiosity, are you switching over to 3D animation now?

Great work. It is very nice indeed, with great snappy animation and dynamic posing. That being said though, be careful with over-acting. WHat I mean is that the characters do not always need to be moving from one extreme pose to another. It could just be toned down a bit, and save the extreme poses for the high-points of the audio. That is what I did not like in Madagascar (sorry Kevan)... I found that the character animation was all extremely overacted, and it resembled a 1940's musical.

The best thing to do is to ask yourself before animating a scene, "what would I do, if I were acting this out or delivering this dialogue". Then translate your answer into your scene.

You probobaly didn't notice but he has a monocle (an eye glass). The staging is such that you have to take your time and go through it over and over to see that.

I only caught it the third time around...before that I forgot what his regular eye size was and thought he was being cartoony. Even if it isn't entirely realistic maybe adding a cyan tint to the lens would sell that better.

The fact neither of us saw it right off means the posing doesn't support it. Yes maybe color would change it but good animation will make it exist even if you can't see it.

Thankyou everyone for the advices. I´ll have it in mind in my next animation.
