I haven't done any drawing today....but I plan to! Actually I just bought the Howl's Moving Castle novel (the one the movie's based on) and I read it in two days....(I would have finished it in one, but I got really sick yesterday for some odd reason.......:( )
Alas, the novel is awesome! The story makes so much more sense, but since the movie is BASED on the novel, expect some MAJOR differences....:p
Anyways here are some watercolor try-outs....

Oh and here's my "board" in my room, I had my camera and I just thought why not? So here are some of my accumulated drawings/paintings across the year.

Oh yes and the photographs are pretty bad and blurry, but my camera has been acting strangely lately........

Hehe thanks. You know those crayons, they taste awful and have not one bit of nutrition...

Now I want to try that.

I've tried clay stuff...I dunno...I kinda gave up when I realized it really wasn't my thing...but that was two years ago...maybe it's time to try again...but I have done claymation, making the characters out of clay and a wire frame.

Here's another watercolor try-out....

I think I'm getting it...oh well.

Subjective Criticism

I like the paintings and dog sketches better than the anime-inspired stuff. Blame my anime aversion, but there's a certain je-ne-sais-quoi, some sort of "promise", in them that isn't as pronounced, to my mind, in the latter.

Nice Work!!

Your a pretty good Drawer girl. very nice work!

You know what? I have to agree with you about the anime inspired stuff. Actually I've been trying not to make my drawings look anime-ish but so far it isn't working...

No drawings or paintings for today I'm afraid. I've been studying almost non-stop yesterday, today and probably most of tomorrow because I have my socials provincial, but after that....FREEDOM!
Hehe sorry for my impatience, I just can't wait for summer vacation so I can draw myself into a coma...;)

A little life drawing.

I like your water-color paintings and your life drawings.
I always find it very hard to work with water-colors...maybe I need more practice...
If you want to improve your life drawings, make your line qualities differ more and make your lights lighter and darks darker. (I'm not sure if you understand what I just said...)
To make your drawings more realistic, try to practice making blind contour drawings. That is: drawing the contours without looking at your paper at all, and only stare at what you're drawing. Don't mind about what's on the paper. This will improve your eye-hand coordination.

And...keep on posting good stuff!

Thanks but my watercolors are nothing like I want them to be. I still need much much more practice only I keep getting distracted by my constant need to read novels...

I've tried that before but only when the art teacher told us to. I should start doing that more often, it might help me a lot... Thanks for the advice!

And now for random life drawings!!!!

Like you've never seen a rose before....

Another sketch of my dog!!!! Like you've never seen that before either!

Chirp! Chirp! Birdee! Actually I'm surprised I was able to draw this at all, the bird kept flying back and forth on a tree...

I wouldn't have posted this up when I was drawing this, but something about the expression on her face made me pause. That never happens....seriously.

I think fish are easy to draw, at least they're stuck in the aquarium while birds tend to just fly away...

Here's a little animation test I did earlier today...I know it's not good but like I said it's a test. Also, it's a walk cycle for my little haida bird spirit! Only I just wanted to see how to make him step so he only steps with one foot....who knows maybe he's lazy with the other leg.

This is my color test for my haida bird spirit (bad coloring I know but it's a test...)

Here are my complete (two legs (invisible) moving this time) walk cycle. One with my normal timing and the other with a longer pause inbetween the walks...I wasn't sure which I preferred but now that I think about it, it should be more inbetween the two animations....
Also this is a pencil test so....not many inbetweens plus it would help if I had better equipment...

Normal version...

Longer pause version

Here's my walk cycle at completion (colored with background).
Wow I'm exhausted.....:(
Oh well at least it's done now even though there are still a few improvements I can do, but not today.

Nope. I'm building my art portfolio for art school (I know it's kind of early considering I still have to get through 12th grade but there's still a lot I have to do).

I didn't want it to cycle, but when it came to making the animated gif, I decided to make it loop to make it longer. Actually that was a scene for a longer project, but I decided to restart it and make it better.
Thanks for the advice, I most definitely need it.

Here are some drawings....

Here's a little drawing I photoshopped real fast.

Here's another image I photoshopped...

I don't know, young people today ...

Well nowadays, people are more familiar with photoshop and I figured I might as well learn it too. However, that doesn't mean I'm not learning the traditional ways, I just decided to learn both.:)

Here's a self-portrait I did and colored using photoshop.

And here's a photoshopped drawing I did for my deviantart account using the image above.

Hehe another somewhat self-portrait...
A comic about a talking pencil...I wouldn't be surprised if this were to happen to me one day...

As soon as I finished inking the part where the pencil says "You've been working me to the bone", I realized I should've written "You've been working me to the lead"....So keep that in mind when you're reading.....I'm too lazy to go buy white-out or to change it using photoshop....

Okay this is definitely my last self-portrait!!! Actually I wasn't going to put this up, but I changed my mind....the killer pencil :D

Here's another image...if you want a description of what it is just check out what I wrote in my deviantart account...

Haha no worries. I need all the constructive criticism I can get before it slaps me in the face.
The profanities...ah yes the profanities...it was just a kind of a very short lived phase (hopefully).

And now here are a lot of life drawings I did during my little camping trip.
Oh yes and I hate attachments because one needs to put effort into clicking on all the links just to look at the pictures so there...no attachments! Just a lot of posts.

I might have drawn more life drawings (not that I need any more) if I hadn't gone into a book store and bought Oryx and Crake (novel by Margaret Atwood) which I devoured in 2 days....I really have got to stop doing that...:D

Wheeeesh, I've been doing so much fanart stuff for my deviantart account...
And now for something much better, a man with a haida tattoo...:D

I think it looks good Mel
I love your backgrounds
but maybe you schould experiment with screentones

...

L_Finston is correct in his comm. For enviroment drawin its very impotant to think about you're perspectives. But you're sketches are nice. Try to give some more accents to the part you think are interesting. By giving it some more shadow.

Thanks for the comments guys!! Keep 'em coming!
Sorry for not posting anything for a while...I've been doing nothing but fanart for a while and well, I was pretty sure it wouldn't be interesting in a forum like this.
So here's something original:

This is from an "anti-war" comic that I'm drawing. I was hesitant in posting this, hehe. :o
Ermmm, hope you don't mind blood...
Anything that I should improve would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Wow I'm surprised I missed the weird shadows....thanks for telling me, I feel really stupid right now.:(
Yeah it was done through photoshop, yup I do know your opinion on it! :D
I wanted to see what screetones would do for my drawings.
Whether or not it was worth it, just kinda experimenting, since I have barely any knowledge of photoshop.
Yeah I guess I could paint them, it would look much nicer...only prob is that making a comic out of individual painted panels seems hard to do, but who cares, I'm up for a challenge!!
True about the preachiness, but I want the story to reflect something different...
Oh well, at least I got to work on drawing lots of tanks and vehicles, which I rarely do.

thanks again for all the advice Laurence, really appreciate it! :)

I know I haven't posted anything for a while. At the moment I'm practicing my hand-drawn animating skills using the "Animator's Survival Kit" as reference. It's for some kind of pencil test reel for my art portfolio to get into art school, I hope it gives me an edge over the other students trying to get in.

Here's a quick sharpie drawing I did. I didn't know what was going to appear on the paper when I started, but I have to say the end results are pretty neat. As usual, I'm practicing my line thicknesses 'cause I think it just looks better.

Here's another silly sharpie drawing.
This time it's a self-portrait.

Another silly self-portrait.
I really hate my computer, it's so slow and crashing and overheating and just plain not functionning.
We've already replaced the hardrive and the power fan and a whole bunch of other things...it's time for a new computer.

Some random doodle thingie depicting the god of fertility? in pagan religions. :)

nice work!

Dude!!!

I'm liken the work man! and I must conqour on the feelings about modern computers hahahahaha.

Thanks! Yes computers are such a pain,so far this week my computer hasn't had a major problem yet....but we're only tuesday. :D

Some random color pencil drawing, I call it "spiritual headache". :D
I haven't touched color pencils in a while so my coloring skills are pretty rusty.

I was bored...so I did this crappy little thing.
The runes on the tree spell out "life", hence the name life tree.

I love runes, and norse mythology. :D

Here's an inked drawing I did on the front hardcover page's back (wow that's confusing) of my sketchbook.
Once again, haida design, love their art.:D

First page of that same sketchbook.

I love the pic of you sitting at your desk hahahahahaha that I really love ....you should color it man!!! Oh you had mentioned the water ripple in my last post ....thanks for liking it ......but if you go to my Deiviant account (same name cartuneman) you can see a larger view, they are just scrathes lol but they work. Thanks again for liking my stuff.....I'm learning more everyday about his ole computer hahahaha

cart:D

Thanks Cart!
Maybe I should color it, but not now though, I have so much stuff to do for my art portfolio right now, it's crazy!
I checked your deviantart account, really awesome stuff you've got in there!
Computers are awesome!............when they work! Haha. :D

Here's a little design I did in my sketchbook. I tried doing knotwork...but I majorly screwed up so I colored it in. Hehehe, oh well, maybe next time it'll look right.

Another sketch...this time I left it in pencil...
