EFX animation in Flash!!!

OK, for all you flash animators out there, what do you think of the concept of buying pre-animated efx that you can plug into your animations? I guess I'll be blunt and mention right off that whether you think it's a good idea or not, I am going to be making them and selling them on my site.

I've seen lots of posts on message boards of people who are asking how to create good looking efx for their flash toons. yes, they want to learn to do it on their own, but perhaps they might be interested in getting something instantly that looks good and that will do the job (that's the idea anyways)!

I would be selling EFX Packs where different animated efx elements could be purchased for $18.00.

For example the Fire pack will have:
torch fire cycle
campfire/fireplace
fireballs/comets
candle flame
rocket flame cycle

electricity/laser beam Pack:
single jagged laser beam
multiple jagged laser beam
lightning
sparks side view
sparks front view

water efx pack:
bubble pop
splash small
splash big
ripple (once)
ripples (cycle)

smoke
cigarette/campfire cycle
disappearing fast
ring that disappears
dust clouds (small to big)

By the way, I have a lot of these done already. If you want to see samples, just let me know!

I think it's a great idea. I'd probably pick up a couple of these. This is the kind of stuff you can spend a lot of time trying to get right - it's worth $18 to have a clip pre-made.

hey, glad to hear that great minds think a like! The challenge is to make something that will work in most animations. I want to do an explosion efx pack, but am not sure exactly which way to tackle it.

those look really good so its worth it to somebody who buys.

They have stock photography. Sell sound effects. I dont see why this wont work. I personally wouldnt buy them, even though they are very nice.

I think this is a good idea! You see FX offered for other programs like After Effects, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for Flash.

i dunno...i think eventually everyone wud get sick/easily recognize the same effects eventually,so the question is how many people do u want to buy your packs?

If that was true than Macromedia wouldn't have included their "sh*t" transitions in MX 2004, or all the Photoshop filters that are included in Photoshop that are over used by newbies and people who should know better.

Blue if you make them great like I know you will, and easy to use, they'll sell. Good Luck!

Thanks for the support guys. I think the following efx packs will be more attractive for people to buy since they will contain more common elements that people would use in a cartoon: smoke, fire and water.

For example, this is Torch fire from the upcoming Fire EFX pack:

Well, at work we have our own one man Effects Department called Szabo. But if I ever need FX for my own personal project I know where I'm going. Those examples look awesome Blue. Keep it up.

BH, the electric pack looks pretty good. I'd encourage you to take another pass at the lightning bolt and the "heartbeat" (for lack of a better term). Those two don't work as well as the others (which look terrific).

My opinion,u don't have to agree with it.

just looking out for the guy.

Those look great! However, I'd almost rather spend 18 bucks on the tutorial so I can make my own... then again an FLA of the effect pretty much is a tutorial. lol

Well, as for tutorials, I do currently have one up on how to design smoke, but it doesn't go into the timing involved with animating it. Oh, and it's free!
