Getting to Know You: 10 questions

I did this topic a couple years ago, but there are many new members now so here it goes again.

Bowler or javelin catcher.

10. If you could live or have a vacation home anywhere in the world, where in the world would that be?

Not sure. I haven't been around enough to make that call. I liked Colorado, but it gets cold. Nashville gets tornadoes. I'm going to Mexico in two weeks... I'll let you know how it goes. :)

I did't bother to check out the sport entry(#9), but I've thought about it, and I like Baseball, but if 4 wheel roller skating was a sport, that's where I'd be. I love to skate, but I've never gone the inline route. I can totally lose my self skating on four wheels at a rink playing some great music. It's one of my little secrets. I am not that great, but sometime before I die I am going to learn how to skate backwards...it's one of my little goals in life. Maybe most of you don't understand, but it's something I've always wanted to accomplish and feel comfortable with.

1. My Neighbor Totoro,
and The Nightmare before Christmas at a close second
2. Wow, this is a tough one. Why did you have to ask me this question? Off the top of my head, I'll have to go with something by Clampett, like Falling Hare or Tale of Two Kitties.
3. Robot Chicken, American Dad (so far, so good); honorable mention to Ren & Stimpy for the episode, Stimpy's Invention: possibly the best animated TV episode ever
4. Hollywood Cartoons: American Animation in Its Golden Age
by Michael Barrier (If there is a more extensive book on animation history, I'd like to know.)
5. Patton Oswalt, David Cross, Paul F. Tompkins, The Three Stooges, Laurel & Hardy
6. Air, Cocteau Twins, Ladytron
7. what a silly question:
raspberry, strawberry, cherry, peach, lime :)
8. walking around the island (waterfront parks, Astor Place, Union Square, The Lower East Side)

what is that character you have as your avatar?

That was my interpretation of a comic book character, who ran from the 1950s through the 1970s, called Hot Stuff. He's a little devil in asbestos diapers: kind of a satanic Casper.

10. If you could live or have a vacation home anywhere in the world, where in the world would that be?

1. South Park: Bigger, Louder, Uncut!!! I completely agree with that movie's stance on voracious censorship. If only more people had taken heed before getting ridiculous over the Janet Jackson Superbowl thing. :(

2. Oooooooh! So many to choose from. I'd have to say Book Revue (by Bob Clampett c. 1946)

3. Well, The Simpsons definitely tops the list of animated sitcoms. Even though it may have lost some of its steam in the past few years, as a whole it still an important zeitgeist of a show.

4. Well, the one that started it all for me was Steve Schneider's That's All, Folks, a Complete History of Warner Bros. Animation. I still read it on occasion.

5. Lots to choose from there too. The definite tops are Charlie Chaplain, Groucho Marx, Harpo Marx, Chico Marx, Buster Keaton, Moe Howard, Larry Fineberg, Curly Howard, Steve Allen, Jack Benny, Lucielle Ball, Phil Silvers, Jackie Gleason, Lenny Bruce, Bob Newhart, Carol Burnett, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Steve Martin, John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Rick Moranis, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short, Dave Thomas, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Phil Hartman, Will Ferrell, Jimmy Fallon, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Dave Chappelle, Woody Allen, Robin Williams, Bil Cosby............ I think I'll stop there. *whew*

6. Local station 104.9 The Wolf.

7. Strange enough, I like fresh strawberries and raspberries yet I don't like anything WITH those flavours. I guess, in a pinch I'd pick either an apple or an orange flavour.

8. Similar to Ken Davis' answer only I prefer DVD hunting.

9. Basketball, but just for the money. Then I'd retire quickly and do what I wanted. I'm sure I'd get at least $1,000,000 a month whether I'm good at it or not. :D

10. I'm not too sure about this one. Anywhere that doesn't have any big crowds would be ideal I guess.

I think baseball is popular, because most Americans/Yankees learn to play it and within the game there are positions that fit everyone. I am definitely shortstop material. I could never be a pitcher or catcher, or even first base.

Most of the time I played left field, but I can't throw that far anymore.
