Congratulations to Ollie Johnston

Hello.

Yesterday, President (ehhhh- oh yes ) Bush awarded a Medal of the Arts for Life time achievement to Ollie Johnston- the surviving member of Disney's Nine Old Men. Johnston was one of 10 folks to receive the award -others included Robert Duval, Wynton Marsallis and Dolly Parton.

Oliie is the FIRST ANIMATOR ever to be honored with this award.

How about some tribute toughts to Ollie!

Way to go....

Tributes to Ollie

Hello,

I thought folks would want to pay tribute to Ollie Johnston for his contributions to animation.

What do you say?:D

Whoa, thats so cool! I'm glad animators are finally being recognised! Way to go Ollie! :D It's a shame this wasn't done sooner. The other 8 old men deserve an medal too.

I agree! I'm currently reading Illusion of life. Wounderful book! Thanks to Ollie Johnston!!!

Hey Bandita I'm reading that too, lol! I agree, it's a great book. I've learned a lot simply from looking at the drawings.

Congratulations Ollie. He totally deserves this award. I'm no historian and can't remember all the characters and scenes he animated, but all my favorite scenes were either animated by Ollie or Frank.

Animation is an art that can fill out a person's whole life, indeed! Good on Ollie Johnston. Congratulations! Felicitations!

It kind of scares me that he's one of the remaining few legendary animators. There are so many I haven't met, and never will meet, like Chuck Jones and Ward Kimball. Man, those guys must've been fun!
