An internet friend of mine, who is animator too, advised me to don't draw cartoon. He advised me to concentrate in life drawings. He told me to drawn life as faster as I can. Told me also to forget all that I know and to drawn only me see. And,since that time, I have looking for to drawn faster and to do it in life drawings. Is that way the right way to reach the animator's style?
Please, help me suggesting me some exercises to drawn better.

I hope you have understood my english. :D

Life (and gesture) drawing is all about basics. I'll try to talk in simple english to make it read easy.

Even though cartoons are "stylish" they have basic rules of motion that originate in the real world. Tarzan did't more like a normal human, but he does have human anatomy. Understanding Life and Gesture Drawing for both Human and Ape helped Glen and his crew animate Tarzan. If you can master Life Drawing and understand how living things move and act, you will be able to "stylize" that knowledge as a cartoon later.

Life Drawing is the most important part of traditional animation. Once you master that, you need to learn timing and acting.

I hope that was simple enough and I wish you all the best of luck.

Life drawing is definelty a plus. It improves all your drawing skills. But with that said it has taken me roughly 4 yrs of solid life drawing to get half decent. Its all about the dedication. happy drawing :D

Thank you, Art Grunt. I think you understood my post. :D
I'm waiting for more replies. Here is the place to get suggestions like that, isn't it?

So, do you concords with my friend that I must to forget cartoon and to draw basically life and gesture drawings? What the difference between life and gesture drawings?
nother question: What more kind of drawings must I to draw to become a animator while I don't enter in an animation class? Must I to draw inanimate objects?

And thank you for answer my question, Omnigon.

I don't have the experience to answer your question, but I thought I would comment that there is sometimes a little too much 'purist' methodology to these things. Some have told me that to learn english you should learn latin, or to learn electric bass you should learn frow a book for bowed standup bass. You will probably find what works best for you no matter which you choose.
