Someone trying to log in as me?

I just got a mail from the AWN forum mailer saying that someone is trying to log on to this forum under my name. Why someone would do that is beyond me, but I would appreciate it if you (whoever you are) would not do it again.

Thank-you, Mr "68.110.158.204" (that is the IP address that tried)

It may just be some "hacker" with a harvester program. Those things are going around especially on the boards.

Pat Hacker, Visit Scooter's World.

I just cannot undertsnd what advantage logging into an animation forum could possibly give anyone (a hacker). With my user name, what, can they RULE THE WORLD and I do not even know about the infinite possibilities yet?

Some people just haev way too much time on their hands... Get a life.

I just looked up that IP and it said it was from Virginia Beach, if that helps any. AOL's from Virginia, though, so who knows. I'm with Pat. Must be a fluke.

I am curious. How do you look up an IP address? I hear of people doing it all the time, etc., but nothing more.

If it was a fluke... Pretty strange fluke. The forum's mailer sent me a notification after someone tried 5 times to get in on my login, and then was locked out. A fluke that happens 5 times?!?!?! Hehehehe.

Oh well. Thanks for the info.

Cheers

vBulletin boards are targets

Since we were hacked once before, we've become a bit more cautious. However, since the vBulletin system we use is well known and since they have had a known security flaw recently posted, boards using this system have become targets.

I used to go to this one place because it even mapped it out for you live, but since I'd seen one unrelatedly the other day, I just ran a Google search for geographical ip lookup and I believe the first site was geobytes.com which had a pretty informative one.

You've never heard of a polyfluke? ;)
