Oh no! Toy Story 3!

Thanks for the link and thanks for the welcome in a previous thread.

My eldest son will be happy he's toy story crazy

I hate Eisner. -.- I hope it bombs, maybe then he'll learn to stop making sequels to everything. Have you guys heard of Bambii and Dumbo 2? Thats outrageous! Those movies had wonderful endings. There were no loose ends to tie up, or questions to be answered by making a sequel. I can't wait until Eisner is fired. -.-

ARRGH! I hate Disney and this sequel buisness. Just leave the classics alone!!! I dunno if this is right but I heard their doing Bambi 2 in CG...

I hope it bombs too but I doubt that if it bombs it's gonna do Disney much harm. Because it's probably a pretty low budget direct to video release. But if it's in theaters bombs away!
I agree with you on the Dumbo/Bambi thing. Those movies had good endings and should not be tampered with! I can't wait till Eisner is fired (or is it resign?) either. It may do Disney good. Maybe Roy will get the job and get all those laid off animators back.

hmmm, okay. my wife was telling me that our youngest son Kyle 17 months old has a preference to certain animations. We have "Tractor Tom" CG animation and "Little Red Tractor" stop-motion animation, give Kyle the choice and it's always red tractor.

Are they gonna call Bambii "Bambi's Herd", I was a bit apprehensive about responding but I do like Disney films and I don't if you know what I mean. Sequels sometimes works, even prequels for that matter, but they don't have to do it every time.

At first I liked the look of Mickey's Twice upon a Christmas but since seeing it again I now prefer the 2D version of Mickey. I'm certainly not keen on the CG of Popeye - it dosen't seem right to me

I'm actually looking forward to "Shark Tale" coming out on DVD, I've got to add here as well that I don't know what's been happening in the animation world between Pixar and Disney or others for that matter, I've years of news to catch up with

I definantly prefer the 2D version of Mickey. I saw a pic of the CG Popeye and it did NOT look right! I have nothing against making CG but I've said it once and I'll say it a million times to Disney and Paramount (or whoever is making the CG Poeye):
LEAVE THE CLASSICS ALONE!

I'd love to see Disney fall flat on their face with this, out of sequel protest (At nearly 13 percent of revenue for a couple billion dollars or so, is it necessary to pump out lard to stay alive?) but honestly, the reason I Oh No'ed is because I don't wanna see irrevocable harm done to the Toy Story franchise. Especially if they just pull a Return of Jafar and start picking random hobos off the street to do the big star voices.

These are all corporate proporties, so get used to it. As I understand it, their owners are required by law to whore them out as much as they can. (See the documentary, The Corporation.)

If anyone wants to read more about why Disney has fallen, here is a great article:

It can be a bit fanatical at times but the whole site is filled with great things to read if you have the time.

I went to it's home page to have a wee browse, I clicked on the Hollywood sues Pixar, I had to laugh because the reason for the suit - too many good movies 6 out of 6 are good movies and they want Pixar to have a bad one  Leave it to the live action movies for the bad movies

It beggers belief, I thought that the main aim for movies no matter what type, is to be good. The investors don't like bad movies - it doesn't make them money or is it that they want to lose money for tax reasons.

I'll check out the full story later

Man, Disney ticks me off. Since Eisner thinks 2D has gone the way of black and white, I'm assuming Bambi and Dumbo will be 3D?! It's crap like this that makes me want to move outta this town and go animate in the mountains by candle light...

This thread reminds me of the hilarious TV Funhouse parody, Bambi 2002.

Announcer: Walt Disney's "Bambi" is going into the Disney vault for ten years, depriving your child or future children of this significant emotional milestone.
After May 27th, "Bambi" will be taken out of stores, placed in a security box, and frozen next to Walt Disney's head. But there's more news!
On the heels of "Peter Pan: Return To Never Never Land", "Cinderella II", "Lady & The Tramp II", and "Pokahotass", Disney presents.. "Bambi 2002".
...
Bambi: [ rapping ]
"I'm rappin' Bambi
I'm here to say
I'm the breakfast of the forest every day!
I've got Flower, and Thumper
by my side
And I know how to kick!"
...
Announcer: And all new hilarious Disney outtakes.

Bambi: We've got to find Thumper in the brair patch.. briar patch! Oh f--k this bulls--t!
...
Announcer: Walt Disney's "Bambi 2002"! Rushed out in time for summer, with all the excitement you could ask for from the Disney sequel and the Disney animators, under the circumstances.

They are looking at making toy story 3 & 4 to and there is talk about a 5th
and like the rest of you guys I hope it bombs too.

What real live movie studio worth their salt would plan risky ventures three movies ahead, having no clue how they'll do? A -plan- for a 5th Toy Story makes me want to bite them.

Disney takes the word 'sequel' to a whole other level. God. Leave classics alone!! Even some of the newer ones, like "Mulan" do NOT need sequels! *AGH!*

2-D animation will never die. The invention of photography did not kill painting. Why would animation be any different?

I don't know about that. The Toy Story sequel was pretty great.

This is hearsay, but I was told that because Pixar owns the rights to the actual *models* for all the characters in Toy Story, that even though Disney can call it Toy Story 3, they're going to have to create all new characters for it. Anyone? Is that smoke in the pipes or something valid?

I have to apologize. I had never heard of the Toy Story 3 plan, -at all-. Not a drop. And then days ago on the front page of Yahoo there was a link to that article, that announcement. But in a search to answer ender's question I found out the announcement (in its original form) went as far back as at least the January "Let's get rid of the majority of our traditional animators" shpiel back at Disney.

As far as I could gather from other forums and things, ender, the deal makes a distinction between models and characters. So Toy Story 3 can headline Woody and Buzz, but I suppose their construction would have to be from the ground up. It doesn't sound right, but like I said, it's what I read and certainly not concrete. Interesting though, how silly it is.

I don't know about that. The Toy Story sequel was pretty great.

That's because PIXAR did Toy Story 2. Part 3 will be done by this upstart division at Disney who thinks that anything CG will be great no matter what the story, acting, animation, etc is like.

I will enthusiastically MISS that movie when it comes out.
