Beginner needs help on tough choice..please!

Well im starting computer animation college classes next year and im having trouble with choosing a computer ...i dont know if i should stick with a PC computers or get a Mac.A few people told me Macs are more Professional but aren't PCs more cheap and the software cheaper..and aren't they about the same?? Anyone know what most Animation Companies use PCs or Macs??I need help...can anyone give me advice

Go with the PC especially if you are going into computer animation. If you were going to graphic design you might want to go Mac.

But the best thing is to contact your school and see what they suggest.
At Ringling are workstations have the following specs and they get the job done:

- HP Workstations XW8000 (with Windows XP Professional)
- Dual Xeon 3.06GHz Processors
- 1.0 gig of RAM
- Graphics card: Nvidia Quadro FX 3000
- Dual HP 2035 Flat Panel Monitor, 20 inch viewable space

All computers suck, so buy the cheapest one you can =)

I make all my movies on an AMD 1700XP with a 17" flat Philips monitor and a mere 256 megabytes of RAM. If you can get a config like Ed just gave you, it's gonna last a LONG time. Go for it!

And remember: If you're going to buy a computer because it looks cute, you don't need a computer at all... =)
