I am a starting-out screenwriter and for some strange reason on this saturday night I thought about "Mighty Mouse". Is there a company working on an adaption of the character to a live-action movie? If not, who owns the character because I'd interested in researching this further.

Paramount/Nickelodeon owns the rights and is doing an all CG adaptation with John Woo directing it.

How recent did they annonce this?
It's been a while. I first heard about it over a year ago. Tentative release date is set for 2006, but since they're still in the development stage that could all change rather quickly.

Basically if its a book or television show with any spark of popularity (and some without) some studio already owns the rights to it. Better off doing an original screenplay until you have an agent.
